  1. Great information snagger, thank you. When you refer to minimum height saddles, do you mean you managed to clear the track rod when using standard shackles and not 1 ton shackles?
  2. I've just stumbled across this post, which I find quite interesting with my current plans. Snagger, did you go for leaf sprung coiler axles ? And if so how did you get on with the front axle concerns?
  3. Does anyone know the difference in height of the spring mounting holes on a 1 ton as opposed to a standard chassis? I'm asking in advance of my build, to enable me to draw up laser cuts ready. I want to do twin mounting holes like what Richards offer , but my chassis requires quite a few other mods 🙂
  4. FridgeFreezer, Have you got any photo's inside your rear tub when the build was complete? And have you got any photo's / details of the rear Volvo lower mounts?
  5. When using the standard engine position, an LT77 and an LT230, does anyone know the front propshaft length? And does anyone know the length of a Disco 1 V8 with cat (skinny Prop) length? I'm trying to develop a kit which enables the conversion and lets you run a standard chassis. Any ideas are welcome....
  6. Ah i see, that makes sense. I wondered if it was an easy swap to remove the 3.54 pinion and crown wheel and just replace them with the 4.1 items.
  7. Thanks Red90, Someone had led me to believe that 4.1's were fitted in some MOD ambulances, obviously that was misleading. Thanks for your help
  8. Were 4.1 Ratio diffs that were 24 spline ever made? I need some to make my final drive ratio right
  9. That's worth knowing! Someone told me that you can swap the actuator and use the standard tsi item with a bit of fettling. Not sure if this has even been done to prove the theory though
  10. So, has anyone ever successfully done this conversation using a 2052v? I like the idea of it for mine, but if controlling it is virtually impossible then there isn't much point in the effort?
  11. Is the skinny prop a disco 1 3.9 v8 with cat front prop? And does that clear a standard flywheel crossmember with an LT77 and series transfer box?
  12. Does anyone happen to know the part number of that skinny prop? I was thinking of using a double cardon with a small spacer to try and dodge cutting the crossmember for my front prop from the LT77 / Series Transfer. . . If anyone knows something that works on it without modding the chassis please shout :-)
  13. Are the Glencoyne mounts just the expensive better quality Bearmch items part number BFM 560G?
  14. What Disco prop did you use AV8R? And what rear props have people used? Double cardon wide angle on the rear? Does anyone know which gives the shortest conversion out of an LT77 and LT230, or a LT77 with Ashcroft adapter onto a Series transfer box? And which requires the least chassis modification?
  15. Except for a tdi, parabolic, front discs and a rear Salisbury it's pretty standard. It's a toy, used on road, 4x4 sites, laning and to tow with occasionally. I may have access to an Ashcroft conversion cheap. Is there much difference in length between a series transfer and an lt230?
  16. Hi All, My apologies I'm a newbie on here!! I have a swb series 3 with a disco 200tdi in it, with a poorly gearbox (the box wasn't great before the tdi). I'm considering an LT77 with an Ashcroft series transfer case adaptor, or having the standard series box rebuilt by Whitehouse Transmissions with series 3 suffix D internals. What do people think from their experiences? If the LT77 is the best option then:- What are they like? - Is it worth the effort? How much do I need to mod the chassis and are there an options on how? Will any chassis mods mean losing DVLA points thus rendering it a Q plate? Or are the clever mods to bypass this? I know I would need to mod the prop lengths, but do the UJ's cope with the shorter length - I'm running Rocky Mountain Parras Sorry if this has been covered before but I'm at a bit of a loss Any help will be greatly appreciated
