I thought ep90 had a very distinctive smell ? Tried sniffin'?

I think not threaded is normal (these days); the casing material is far softer than the screw thread - just line 'em up and screw 'em in, job done.

I'm afraid that I find it happens no matter what vehicle I'm driving. There is so much traffic, impatience, poor driving, questionable road sense by those who were not taught to drive in the UK that such behaviour seems the norm these days.
Ok I'll (reluctantly) bite... would it be ok for your to keep your xenophobic (being polite) comments off this forum? Thanks very much

I think when I broke the same one I ground it flat, drilled it out (a tad oversize?) and attached it with a nut and bolt... not exactly OE but hey, who's counting rivets.

I thought the only problem with this exorbitant piece of floating (so far) willy-waving junk was that there are no fixed wing aircraft for it... good to know it leaks too

Back to the Italians (Cambiare): I've got Italian lift pumps (one Cambiare, another can't remember) on my 110 and my lorry. Both have been on for 3-5 years now. So far so good

What am I missing/off on here?
Spain? It was a LR building country (albeit Santana badged) until recently and there are loads of newer defenders around, BUT... I haven't got any links . Germany's also a good option but the salty roads can be a problem.
Have fun looking...

Not getting into the technicalities of dvlablahblah, but... with decent lifting aid (telehandler??), a bit of forward planning and a couple of competent mates, you can swap the chassis in a hard-grafting weekend.... (or take years over it). Your call!

NICE
I haven't watched all the way thru cos I'm so over VW's and Loti . I've always loved simple animation fx... One thing that bugged me: remember to look at the dam thing when doing your piece(s) to camera !!
Your enjoyment shines through and both sides (vehicles + production) make me jealous...

Just to add to this: I've had the same thing caused by a blocked/semi-blocked return line (FIP to tank)

IF (that's a big if) you're happy with the inside, I'd go with Jockland's burn. Doesn't need much, no roaring furnaces, just pile some scrub/sneddings etc around it and toast gently, Gas mark 1, till done

My understanding and (limited) experience is that handling, or more exactly steering, becomes more tricky/dangerous once you inflate the front significantly higher than the rear. Any adults in da house?

I use an old car aerial (and tape measure!) to measure the distances; you know, one of those multi-stage pull-up push-in ones: the perfect tool

You're too right about the need to rest... bummer how you got caught like that
all the best to you

It looks like the "pto engaged" warning lamp
That's what it is

I'll third Ralph and second Maverick... sometimes only real solid will do

That's what I did. I don't think it's a coincidence that the procedure is two turns of 60deg, rather than some other angle. It'd save a lot of tools and time in the engine plant.
Me too! A dab of tippex or whatever to show you where you started, then off you go... it's simple enough, really is

Jason,
Keep the faith; your wife, medics, family, friends, colleagues (and all of us) are totally with you, willing you to move (at your pace) into a lighter, brighter place.
Take care

I've no experience of CG Collection at all, ever. My 2€ cent's worth is that it perhaps will come down to the GVW on the original paperwork. Importing stuff over 3,5t GVW to France seems to usually (always?) involve an actual physical inspection (by the manufacturer not the DRIRE) and generally results in quite a few annoying/expensive mods being required. I don't think, if you're over 3,5t, that Volvo would fail to notice a mercedes engine. BUT, if your paperwork puts you at 3,499 kg or less GVW it could be that you're good to go - provided that your model is one one that's been previously imported here... I'd try calling/mailing Volvo, tell 'em the chassis number and see what they say.
Under 3,5t + engine change diesel->diesel: very doable

This thread just keeps on giving... thanks to all who've contributed (retro, cwazy and all the rest).thanks paul, so I'm now gonna hv to buy some .05mm2 gauge cable. I'm surprised it isn't mentioned in retros guide, i though he had just crimped straight into the existing loom.
on the plus side drove in dark for first time with new clocks! wow!! amazing difference.
G-MACK: what tool did you end up using to make your crimps? I'm not keen on spending 30-40£ on a one-off crimper... d'you think can it be done (carefully) with a cheapo pair in combination with a pair of needle pliers?

+1 for the tailpipe. I drive a soft top 200tdi 110 and recently switched from home brewed straight-out-the-back to a standard bosal (?) pipe like mickeyw. Result: no more exhaust whiffs...

you have to fit the sender once the tank's in place - there's not enough room between the chassis rails for the tank with sender fitted to squeeze thru

Excellent to know you're on the mend + on a side point re. your nurse, I've always thought of all Australians as Asians ...
wiring in a 12s socket to a 1990 defender 110

Hi, you can pick up all the wiring by removing the screwed in cover tucked into the corner on the rhs of the back door - there are (should be) spare connectors for all rear lights there. What you'll actually find depends on who's been in there before...
