In that case i'll re-phrase it, 'MY' K reg 200tdi does NOT have either axle or chassis mounts for arbs......
-
Not too sure if this is any help since I can't see a part number on it, but the fullest outer diameter of mine is 64mm and it looks like this:
Identical to mine....!!
-
my apologies if this has been covered before but I couldnt find the info I was looking for
Im after a measurement on the full outer diameter of the alternator pulley on a discovery 200tdi
part number RTC5847 but i cannot find out the diameter.
this is to find out once and for all whether the pulley on my alternator is correctly sized and therefore whether my rev counter is telling pork pies.
many thanks in advance
Jim
I'll try to remember to measure mine for you tomorrow mate..... no promises though, cos i have a carp memory!!

K reg Disco will NOT have either the chassis brackets, or the ones on the axles, i think i'm right in saying, that the 24 spline axles had the arb mounts..... although 'some' of the very late 10 spline one might have had aswell.....
-
I wouldn't bother jacking it up, especially if you don;t have any axle stands, simply roll underneath to undo the bottom nut.... both top and bottom nuts should be 19mm.......
-
Mmmm, it's not quite that simple...... once you've got the prop and the donut off, you'll find that there is a lump of ironmongery stopping you getting to the nut.... this is not easy to remove, i've just done away with the donut type prop on my 300, and fitted a regular uj one.... i ended up grinding most of the flange away, simply to access the nut.... good job i didn't want to re-use the flange, cos it was on the floor in dust form..!!!
-
Dead right...!!
-
If the end of your existing shafts are fairly flat, then it's metric, if they are very domed, then it's imperial.......
-
If the 10 spline axles is metric, then yes, if it's imperial, NO!

you may find that the lift will not solve your probs if u look in search about camle cuts it will tell you how to solve the catching
its worth doing looks extreem way to solve rob but your back quaters look so nice stright would be a shame to bend one when the wheel catches the back edge
regards mark p.s truk looking good
Nice looking truck..... i suspect that the fouling issue you're having, is with the outer edge of the tread, or maybe the sidewall fouling ion the outer top edge of the rear arch, and this will not be corrected by any type of camel cut.....
Sadly i suspect a lift of some sort is required....

HI, you will find this link very useful....
http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/tires.html
the biggest reason few people use the alloys, is due to their big inset, ie, they don;t stick out much..... this, wehn coupled with larger tyres equals a sever lack of steering lock..... i think most of your other questions can be answered in the link.... the most commonly avaliable steel wheels are the modulars, most of which are supplied with +20 offset.... i think the alloys are +35......

HI Carl, any idea of a cost for a bumper as per the one in the pics, what about tank guard, i assume the standard ones won;t fit, do you do one to go with the bumper... if so, how much for the wholes lot...
Thanks.
Pm if you prefer....

I'm almost in the same quandry, there's too much choice, but for my money out of the ones you've listed, it'd be the D44 one, nice and tight fitting, and i personally like the idea of the winch being out of most of the weather, daft i know, i have been looking at the Golddigger one, which seems good, and is even tighter fitting...... he also makes a steering guard that bolts to the bumper... i think this is the option i will be going for..... and if i feel the need, i'll also be getting one of his rear winch bumpers aswell.... although i'm still not convinced i need a rear winch.....
http://www.golddigger4x4.com/page2.htm
PS< best to make sure that it'd fit IF you have aircon etc..... sometimes you might not want the winch set so far back....!!

Take a look at Paddocks site, their prices INCLUDE £100 surcharge, so they're about £100 nett. Follow the link:
http://www.paddockspares.com/sp/category/D...ring_Boxes.html
They may well be cheaper than new, but i went through 3 boxes in as many months.... the recon ones were not very good, i bought new, and have had no issues since.....

My TD5 manual has a creaky/squeeky clutch when the pedal is pressed (creak as pedal moves down...not a bearing squeel) . However this occurs when it is all good and warm. When the car is cold it is as quiet and gradually gets worse.
I wondered if it could be the slave cylinder getting tight when it is warm? I have known the seals to start seizing.
Is this noise a known problem? any ideas welcomed.
It shouldn;t be needed.. but have you tried lubricating the pedal pivot...???

i have just been given some 110 springs and told they will fit my disco
on the 110 springs the drivers side are longer than the passanger side is this the same on ,my disco befor i rip it to bits to find its wronge
I'm pretty sure the rear springs are a different diameter... in which case they will not fit!!

It's not as clear cut as 200's and 300's being different though..... early 200's were imperial axles, 10spline diff with straight shafted halfshafts...... and the very rounded ends on the halfshafts aswell......
the later 200's had metric axles, also with 10spline diffs, but the shafts were now flatter ended, with an internal seal on the hub end of the shaft.......
at some point, i suspect on the 300's, they then changed to 24 spline metric axles, with the 3 bolt rubber drive thingy and also with anti roll bars..... i don;t think i've seen a 200 with them.....
axles are a bit of a minefield!!!
-
Easier still, it should be stamped into the wheel centre somewhere......
-
Just be aware that when stuck in gloopy mud, it's quite possible for the power needed to unstick the truck to be well over the actual weight of the vehicle.....i have a 3200kg pull one..... but it is quite heavy!!!
-
Even my brand new D44 winch sail didn't seem heavy enough, so i placed 2 lengths of lead in the inside pockets..... it's heavy enough now.......!!
-
If you're lucky you might see a slight benefit from cleaning the oil out of it, doubt you'll see any gain from the hoses.... how do i know..... i just fitted them on mine.....
-
I'll leave the anchor at home, as it weighs that much it will just help me get stuck sooner...LOL!!!
-
Really looking forward to this now, i know it'll be muddy, and perhaps raining, but should be a good hopefully learning day......
Do i bring my ground anchor...???? or are there enough trees within 100ft not to worry with the anchor.......???

Will we need floatation devices under the waffles.......

Check that your steering damper isn't clogged with mud....... sounds to me like it could be....
