  1. I have the Sahara's from insa on minem, along with zero offset 7inch rims, i have had to trim the rear of the front arches, the front of the rear arches, and also the rear of the rear arches to some degree........ can't believe how much they rubbed on mine, although i will admit i'm using an odd offsett rim..... i have a 2 inch lift aswell, so there should have been enough room, even with extended bumpstops mine still rub the top of the inner arch on full articulation, it sounds awful...... but as long as you know thats what it is you can live with it...... JUST!!

The Sahara's are i believe very slightly shorter than the special tracks, no way i could have them on mine with the current rims, but i have these rims to keep good steering lock...!!!

    Can't have everything i guess....

  2. Donut propshaft coupling is not fitted to V8's after vin VA710068.

My disco is a 97 with a vin VA74 and therefore does not have one.

Mmm, in that case, check radius arm bushes, both ends, a frame joint, wheel nuts..... and bearings...... could even be a uj in the prop...!!!

  3. i have done some research and the wbsite says that it is legal to tow by a frame if the vehicle is behind,

so if it has someone to operate the brakes in the drivers seat (do not have to have a driving liscence) then it is legal.

    cheers

    mikey

Actually, you might be right, you quite often see cars being towed behind motor homes, small cars though, might be different with something as heavy as a disco.......

just found this, you might wanna have a read.....

  4. Disco ron How can you complain when you still owe for what you have got,Yes your order was short but you still need to pay me,

Carl, when did i complain, i said if the parts arrived all the better, that doesn't sound like a complaint to me.....

from what i understand, the credit card refunded the money, not you, so if i owe anyone, it's them, and i am more than willing to pay them the full amount when i recieve the remainder of the goods, (rear bumper, steering guard, and swivel recovery points for front bumper) however, i will only ring the card co and make the payment when i have got the goods, not before, or, if you (or golddigger) have effectively still had the payment from the card co, and would rather not deliver the remainder of the goods, then thats up to you.....

  5. I thought that people from Dorset were too posh to come on this website

But then Suffolk yokels lower themselves to post in here :)

    Les

Sorry Les..... 'Dorset people posh'....... what the hell gave you that idea...LOL!!!!

  6. So I was down at my buddies shop the other day having some exhaust work done, and we were trying to figure out how to get a larger intercooler into the Disco. Do you move the rad towards the engine some and then sandwich the new intercooler in the gap? Cant seem to figure out any alternative...

Thats the basics of it yeh, i believe there are two holes in the front cross member that are used to locate the bottom of the new cooler...... you need to remove the fan, and tilt the rad back as far as possible to fit it though i think.... then once it's in, put the rad and fan back on....

  7. Streaky, well, the lever on the acual caliper sould have 3 holes in it, have you tried fitting the cable to either the middle hole, or the one nearest the caliper (if that makes sense) as both of those things will shorten the handbrake lever movement......

Also, when i fitted mine to the 300, i had to fit a 200 lever, which meant drilling a new hole in the tunnel.....

Another point, the lengths of cables can vary somewhat..... maybe you just got a long one.......;)

Filthy, yeh, i know what you mean, i ordered a front winch bumper, tree sliders, and HD rear bumper for my Disco, eventually the front bumper and sliders turned up, i'm still waiting on the rear bumper, and steering guard, i've given up, hence why i bought the bumper that caused this thread..... the good news is that the credit card co gave me my money back, as the co had gone bust..... so i now have in effect not paid for the front bumper or sliders...!!!

  8. I've got a totally useless X-Brake that doesn't work....buyer collects.

Yes...it's very frustrating when you buy things that don't work as advertised....especially when it's not cost effective to return them.

Well, you're in the minority with that one, my x brake will hold a fully laden discovery on a very steep slope indeed......!!!

  9. I can't be the only person to buy things on;y to find that they don;t fit the vehicle, recently bought a 2nd hand, (which means it was fitted once...) Scrapiron bumper fopr the back of my disco 300tdi......... only to find that you need to bend the lower edge of the rear quarted in about 1/2 inch to fit the bumper..... each side, that can't be right surely....... i'm getting well and truly fed up of buying stuff that won;t fit.......

Please help me before i take drastic action......

  10. Yes my order has arrived and when I spoke to Carl he said there are only three back orders to be sent now he has recovered all of his items and equipment from storage.

    John

Well, i know of three people waiting for goods, so if there really are only three people waiting, i know all of them....LOL!!

To be honest, i'm not really expecting to recieve them either, but if i do, all the better for it,..!

  11. Right, have thought about this, what i would be tempted to do, is cut a 'V' inyour existing bumper just outside the chassis rails, and then angle the bumper from that point outwards up so that it is lets say an inch or so off the new challenge wings, then reweld it, that way, you protect your nice new (not for long!) wings, and retain something in the way of a bumper......... as you have what looks like quite a large winch, i doubt you'd easily be able to mount it differently without interfering with other things..... like radiator/fans etc......

at the end of the day it depends how far you want to go, if you really wanted to, you could always have two fairleads on the front, if the bar between the winge were deemed strong enough you could have one up there aswell...... and some sort of release on the rope hook to enable simple switching from one fairlead to the other....!!

    Hope that all helps...!!
