  1. yeah now landy will give em swiss chocs a run for its money.
  2. I do an average of 50miles a journey...so i guess thats not short... The Engine was overhauled about 6 months back....but I guess as you say, the water finding way into lub system...the head gasket must be the culprit. But i have a doubt...if the water is mixing with the lub system..but..the oil level in the sump does not rise even a tiny bit as much as the amount of coolant thats missing...ie the amount i top up I have taken a sample of the engine oil and will send it first thing in the morning to a laboratory for analysis...keeping me fingers crossed. Thanks Mark.
  3. Aragon, Andrew and Dan....will search for the leak again. Half an Hour back I just happened to open the filler cap for the engine oil and look what I saw underneath the cap... There was little condensation inside the filler pipe too When i put me finger into the pipe...this is the whitish sludge on me finger Is this the missing coolant by any chance?
  4. Hello all... As the summer has set here (its around 95F outside) and after driving around 40-60 miles on mostly flat roads at an average of 30M/h, the temperature gauge goes upto around half way mark, i check the header tank and the coolant is less than 1/4th the max....so i have to top up the coolant-water mix again every time i stop. Checked for leaks...none at all...radiator is in a clean condition.(externally) I put in coolant to water mixture in the ratio 40 to 60. I was thinking that i would have to top up after longer intervals if i increased the concentration of the coolant to water...by 70 to 30. Is that ok?(I use Shell Coolant) or adding another kenlowe fan would be advisable? Thanks
  5. Hello all.... Last night in an emergency i forgot to disengage the handbrake....and put me landy in first gear(high range)....and let her go....she moved a few centimeters...with a thud and a clunk...realised me folly and disengaged the handbrake... she moved fine since...brake holds fine too. But am still anxious....what damage if any occured should i look out for and where? Thanks all
  6. Thank you Ralph, you been great help as usual. Cheers man.
  7. Hi all, My landy has been sucking up air frequently now, after going over all the fuel pipes i am sure the problem is with the fuel sender on the tank. I need to open it up and find out whats wrong with it, does anyone have the drawing of the thing and what it looks like inside? Also how do i remove the thing, as i can see no screws holding it? thanks.
  8. What is an "engine maggot"?I googled and coudnt find it.
  9. Thankyou, will change the o ring, but how does one open the cap...i mean is screwed, in that case i'd have unscrew it normaly or "thumped on", in that case i'd have to pull it...yank it off?
  10. Hello all, Ever since i put in a new valve cover gasket, the breather cap has been leaking oil. How do i fix this leak? Is the breather cap screwed on or just "thumped on" the valve cover? Would appreciate with any ideas. Cheers

  14. Hello all.... Yesterday i had removed the valve cover of my 110's engine to replace the gasket...on close examination i noticed small undercutting by the spindles into the block(circled in red). looked from the other side, the undercuts looked 'old' and the spindles dint have any aberations, alls running fine and i know the maxim "If its running dont booger with it" ...but i am curious to know, has any one seen this before?
  15. I know its does'nt match the symptom you see, but just to be sure, also have a look at the gasket, of the "fuel outlet cum level gauge" system is not holding up, the diesel sneaks along the side of the tank towards the front, accumulate and then drips at a considerable rate. This was the problem with the tank on my 110, with diesel dripping. Do tell us what was the problem when you find it. Cheers
  16. Similar thing happened with me....i turned a corner and breaked hard....n then when i breaked again the pedal just went in freely...tried pumping it couple o times half way...no effect. limped(engine braking and hand brake) to the garage...the mech told me the master cylinder seals had worn out...and gave away instantly due to the sudden breaking(says age could be the reason...i dont remember when they were last changed)....so he put in new ones...been good since then. i guess its what Mike said above, the master cylinder seals, that you should check. hope this helps.Good Luck Adi
  17. You can also try filling up the tyres with nitrogen at an intermediate pressure....nitrogen does not expand as much as air when the tyres become hot.
  18. Hey Chris... Yeah they have an 'E'(Lucas) marked on them(yes here in India too its illegal to have way too bright lamps)...and as compared to the previous bulbs these new ones are slightly shorter in length...so i guess thats the problem will try getting a slightly longer one. Thank you for your opinion. @woody will check out your opinion as well cheers Adi
  19. Hi all....I have a 85' 110.... recently i changed the head lamp bulbs for new ones.....all works fine...except... the low bean is focussed really short about 3meters on the ground....how do i increase the distance on the low beam? the distance was perfect with the previous set of bulbs. For Info these are the double filament bulbs..12v, 90W/100W. Cheers
