  1. morning people.

recantly i have noticed my 200tdi defender has been over heating on long jorneys.

i.e last night about 12pm ish i was driving up the a12 sitting at 60mph all the way and the temp was fine. about 40-45 mins into driving i looked at the guage and it was very nearly onto the red.

it has done this twice before but it was really hot and i just put it down the hot weather.

but when i slow down to around 50ish the temp shoots back down the normel.

there shouldnt be a problem with colling i have a viscouse fan and cowling and a backup electric fan for when im towing.

    anyone have a clue?

oh and a uprated intercooler which adds to the cooling doesnt it.

    cheer

  2. my mothers 90 has had that problem,

the pully was still done up tight, must just of been wear and tear,

i used the chimical metal on the,

i stuck the woodruff key in with the chimical metal and let it set,,

has worked a treat. as long as you get the key flush with the flat side that has NOT worn

    cheers

  3. it depends on how the oil is refined,

i grow oil seed rape on our farm, 200 acres of the bloody stuff,

they squeeze the seed then the oil is ectracted it, then it has to be processed,

all differnte brands of oil has been processed in a differnt way, either processes very cheaply or very expensivly.. do you get my drift,

my dad makes bio diesel at home, he get differnt brand of oil, mostly used oil but the un-used oil.

you could see the differnce in the cheap stuff and the more expensive stuff..

    hope that makes sence lol

    cheers

    sam

  4. if there cooking oil is anything like thier diesel,

then i wouldnt touch it with a barg pole. tesco have the most dirtyest diesel money can buy,

i was told never to run a 200 or 300tdi engines on it,

one day i did try it, it white smoked like you cannot belive

so if there cooking oil is anything like there fuel.. i wouldnt recomend running un-processed oil in your trucks..

    cheers

  5. i have a k-reg 200tdi 90 but with 24spline axles from a p-reg automatic discovery.

the nuts i have are the stainlees cap with the alloy nut.

i have taken one of caps of.. it was not a nice job to do but after that i found out the nut inside is a 26mm not not 27mm when i bought a alloy wheel 27mm socket for alloy wheels.

cheers for that.. i will have a look at the poeple you siad about.

i did find some a min ago.. (i can not remeber the name) but they are £200 for set of 20 stainlees wheel nut

    cheers

  6. Now... land rover alloy wheel nuts,

am i the only one that thinks that they are bloody awfull?

them stupid little caps that they have,

i have use my impact gun to undo my wheel nuts couple of time with out remebering that they have them caps on!!!

now they are buggers to get off as all the caps are out of shap,

i use the gun to spin them on loosly but i then torque them up to 140nm so i dont strech the studs

i was told at some point that you can buy steel alloy wheel nuts????? true or fulse?

like the freelander alloy nuts? but bigger?

    cheers

  7. its funny how we are allways cursing them but still we allways come back to them

    there an addiction

i know people that have landys, then sold them to go jap,

got bored of them and then went back to landys.

if you have a land rover, you have to accept the fact the:

    there uncomfy,

    bad on fuel,

    leak nearly every fluid possible,

    noisy,

like your all saying hard to clean propperly,

the clutches are horribly heavey (esspesully when you have dodgy knees like me)

the terrible play that allway come back in the steering after you have sorted it out a million times.

and there allways a wire problem, like bad earths, wires currobed as they are exposed to the salt that is thrown on the road..

annoying little things like that, we curse and curse

but all you have to say "oh well, its a land rover" and bite your toung like i allways do.

    cheers

    sam

  8. yeah.. i will have to look propperly at the week end..

did i also mention that in the morning it starts first time then stalls strieght after that.. then its a pig to start..

this morning it look about 10 seconds to start

    cheers

    sam

  9. evening all.

over the week end i fitted my turner gasflow head. it need changing as no.4 cylinder melted and hammerd the hell you the head.

but since i put that in runs like a dream.. quite, smooth, responsive, less smoke ans fast.

but mornings and whe the engine has been siiting still for a hour or 2, its not easy to start.

will start, run for 1 second and the stall even with foot flat down, then second time it start and run beautifully all day..?????

    cheers

    sam

  10. Helllo chaps

This will be the seconds time i will be taking the head off my 200tdi..

i know the standars land rover head bolts are one unit strech bolt. and i belive can be used twice only?

i have been having a chin-wag and looky about getting the conversions for studs and a bolt to clamp the head down and not using the strech bolts.

couple of chaps i have spoken to about it.. not on landys but 1 a marcos and some other old thing..

they both now swear by them?

im just wondering if anyone has use/ed them on and 200tdi or 300tdi?

    cheers

    sam

  11. keep your trucks safe boys and girls.

Land rover thiefts are on the raise again as i read in the farmers weekly.

ages K, L, N, M. Are the ones going targeted now..

So keep them locked up and nothing of any value in them.

    Cheers

    Sam
