  1. hi all..

am i right in saying that 235/85/16 tyres are 31"? 265/75s are 32"? and 285/75s are 33? im not entierly sure thats right but hey.

i measured up my tyres 235/85 and was 31" and my brother has 265/75 and they where 32" so i a asume that the any bigger you need 16/8 rims or 15" rims?

sorry it a stupid question lol

    cheers sam

  2. hi chaps..

my grandads series 2a has a brake problem.. there fine when going faward but then you back it up the the back brake come on.. it like the pads are catching the drum when going back.. have adujested them and not much happend..

    what the problem?? anyone

  3. All I can say is more fool you.

God forbid you now have an accident.

Whilst we are on the subject have you had the crash damage repaired?

i think i might be putting it back to atf and try tighening the screw right up if that does not work then ill have find somthing inbetween 10/30 for the time being untill i have the funds to get another box.

yeah well sort of.. defently needs a new dumbiron. it bend tryed smacking it back and it just crippled. craps orded another dumbiron and going to fit it next week i hope.

at least it got its face back, bumper and grill and i can still feed the cattle with out worrying about cops pinning my arse for having no frontle protection.

but still need a better bumper, rad sarround and a-bar..

  4. i have took all this in to concideration, as i said 2 people i know with older trucks then mine have done this and it held up! (3years scots had engine oil in his and not a problem even with 15/40) i have done it today use 10/30 and it has made a amazing differnce.. apart from the drop arm ball joint worn alot of the play has gone. and nothing feels differnt.

    well we shall see..

    cheers sam

  5. im going to re-place my power steering fluid with engine oil. so it doesnt get hot a so quick and hopfully it might take some play out of the box..

whats the best way to get the old fluid out? i though taking the oil feed pipe off and running the engine to pump it out but would it damage the pump? iv seen a few people do this to there truck.. what does every one els think?

    cheers sam

  6. hi chaps..

i was just reading at this clicky about a hydraulic winches thats can be powerd by the power steering pump? look at stage 1 on the web site?

but on stage 2 the next system has its on own pump for the winch?

the first one surely that wont do the power steering pump anygood powering 2 things? i spose you cannot use steering and the winch at the same time.

but has anyone used or seen this system work? i rather interested for doing some logging and when i go green laning!

    cheers sam

  7. hey badger, who do you know from harper?

oh and to stay on topic, replace both dumb irons, its worth doing and will stop the rust spreading further back,

yeah i am now.. but when i have the money i will ill shove the bumper on then sort it out as soon as i can!!

err natasha wright? sophie robbins? scot rix? will allbruy? goerge aptar? tom coxell? tom magners? edd watson? and few more!! whys that?

  8. :D i couldnt agree more with what anyone has said..

im diturmind to do it.. iv had couple of people at uni and work saying "dont be so rediculouse at your age".. i just said back to them... because you didnt do, it doesnt mean i cant.. and it your fualt you didnt get your arse in gear and do it instead of working for the same petty farm for 30years!!! (i did lay into him fairly because that got in my skin).

im only 18 now but i as you all said.. time goes quick.. doing this will be a big thing because. i actualy havnt been out this county so will be great to see some pretty amazing things.. other then tractor, fields, grain stores the same secenry every day. iv explored alot of the u.k, scotland, wales, derbyshire, highlands, yorkshire, devon, portsmoth..

but u.k is (lets be honest) sh*t lol..

2 of my brest mates are currently out traveling the world.. personly id rather the expedition way because you can see what you want and stay (basicly) where you want.. go where you want (to certen extent) and spend as much time there..

im stop going to woffleing now..

whos going to donnington? it would be good to have chat with a few off you guys about it!!

    cheers sam

  9. yeah.. as i said prevouse replys. money and time in a issuse for me.. going round E.U sound tempting and doing and big trip later on..wehn i wont have money as a issuse ans uni in my way..

ahh yeah i am ment to be going to donnington.. yeah so i porbs give you a shout..

but as you'v all said getting good kit doesnt come cheap.. and the carnets that one of my worrys after all iv read about them..

but still pleanty of research to do.. but first i think will need to do is either get another truck for the job or get 90 overhualed and all the big problems at the moment sorted.. since my mate shoved it into a tree iv found couple of problems that where hindden lol..

    cheers sam

  10. If I was planning to attach a winch and bumper to my truck, and there was any doubt as to the condition of the attachment points (the dumb irons) I would be making sure they were solid. In the case of the dumb irons, the easiest and quickest solution is to replace.

oh yeah no doubt about it.. but there will be winch on in for some time. so if i wasto change them at a later stage it can hold the bumper on for a few months?

  11. If the dumbirons are paper thin in places I think I'd want to have a good tap around the rest of the chassis while I was at it.

its only that dumb iron thats in that sort of condition.. and i have had poke about the chassis.. it seems fine.. it just that dumb iron.. other isnt to bad.. seen better days but it must have anther 2years of life left..

  12. yeah im considering it.. but at £40-45 a pop pluss a good welder to do it as my welding isnt up to spec untill iv had ait more exearence. and i havent got a good enough welder.

the chassis are good.. and the out riggers are good.. apart from one has a tiny hole.. which can be patched..

but it will need doing because a winch bumper is going on and a winch anytime this year haha..

yeah i do use the jack holes alot.. the holes and the high lift have got me out some troubles i.e stuck to my axles at bures, changing a burse brake line at 1 in the morning down a green lane and changing wheels on the road..

ill be lost with out that jack lol..

anyother suggestions on the dumb iron? anyone think it might last a little longer?

  13. thanks guys.

so it has to be said that a redicoules amout of planning is to be dont? this is sort of putting me off for a while now

i want to do it before a start my degree but some how i dont recon i will have that kind on money only a few months after i finish my diploma.. i may have to work my guts off work a year or two after i do the degree..

that means loads of time for planning then haha, no balls up.. should be made then

but godly will you be posting some more about your jorney? i would like to follow it.

    cheers sam
