  1. Hi,

After my last panic ridden post re my rusty 90 I feel a bit better having had some words of encouragement from western and having got the repair panel for the foot well and bulkhead outrigger repair sections and new lock cylinders all round.

The only job that worries me is the outrigger replacement any body got any sage words of advice before I start?

    Cheers

  2. Well I've spent the last 2 hours with James & after having a look over his 'new' 90, I can say thatt the footwells & bulkhead outriggers & the bulkhead top corners need the attention of mr welder to make them feel better, in all a good 90 with no major problems & those mentioned can be sorted fairly easily, so get to it james & you'll have a good solid vehicle for a long time.

Ralph thanks for all the help you are a star it made me feel much better and I could face the family with some degree of confidenceā€¦.. Best I get to it with angle grinder and welder then.

To answer the questions asked by other contributors I am 41 going on 15 but never got the chance to own a landrover until now. My welding would best be described as agricultural but sound even if it does look like a bird produced it from its rear!

Thanks once again to every one

  3. Help!!!!!!!!

Just bought my first landrover always wanted one even as a kid (ancient defender 90 with 200tdi conversion with 5 months MOT)

All was well until it got home and I had a proper look!!!!.

The passenger foot well has developed a hole with some poking big enough to put your head through and I have found the some holes in the cross bits that attach to the chassis behind the front wheels.

The bulk head from the engine bay seems ok

the back ofside rear wheel has oil leaking from the bit in the middle and the handbrake doesn't work it doesn#t have any resistance at all the chap said the cable had snapped.

The engine brought us back no problem at about 70mph all the way down the M6 so I think the engine is ok starts first timeā€¦ no smoke.

Does anyone know if the panels are available to weld/repair my old girl and any ideas as to the hand brake and wheel?

As you have probably gathered I feel a bit stupid and would appreciate some support/ reassurance/solace/ advice/ all in all please help

    Desperate of Oxford

    :(
