  1. '97 300tdi disco, 168,000 miles lots of black smoke and no power... All the hoses are connected and in good condition, the turbo spools up but there is no increase in power and plumes of smoke.. Turbo gone? Many thanks Paul
  2. Yep, 12-13v without the engine running. had the same concern on my 300tdi, Chrismas day, just finished nights...
  3. I have recently had 12 thou taken off mine due to HGF, as long as the valves are relapped to the same depth there should be no concerns, http://www.northlincseng.co.uk/ these boys did mine oposite Manby playground.. head skim, new valve guides fitted, valves reground and 4 injectors checked and cleaned - £270 HTH Paul
  4. I am losing water/coolant at a very slow rate, i rebuilt the the unit due to an overheating problem 4 months ago, head skimmed, all new gaskets including P, new rad last year. Loss has occured during the cold snap, the coolant ratio is as spec and i cannot see any obvious places for the leak, clips all tight and pipes all in order, no fouling in the oil, no smoke and no loss of power... A long shot i know but is there anything obvious that i am missing? Thanks Paul
  5. The handle is fine, no catching or stiffness, is the spring a LR part or will just a replacement spring do the job, any ideas where to get one....two... Many Thanks
  6. Hi Folk, i have had a problem with the passenger door for some time where i pull the handle the door will just not open, now i am having the same problem with the drivers door. Is there any adjustments that can be made to the mech so that it releases the catch to open the door without pulling the handle off? , the rear doors are fine as they dont get used as much. Many Thanks in advance Paul
  7. Thanks for all of the quick responces guys, there is a lot of very good useful information, i already have a bench grinder and a good set of cobalt bits, what i have picked up on is the speed of the drill whilst drilling as in if it it too fast it will blunt the drill in no time, learning point... I have just purchased a drill sharpening jig from the bay very similar to the Axeminster due to the fact that i have the bench grinder, i will also try sharpening them free hand on some older bits that i have.. Again, many thanks Paul
