Is this any help?: http://www.paintman.co.uk/index.html

You could always use a small amount of talcum powder/chalk to remove any stickiness that remained.

I've linked a R/R coolant sensor lid to this and it works very well: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Low-Coolant-Level-Alarm-12V-/170927068334?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item27cc0c14ae
More or less plug and play

The head is cracked and warped.
Garage have quoted a high 'worse case' scenario so I have decided to bite the bullet and order a remanufactured 300TDi from Turner Engineering with a gas flowed head on the basis that the Landy is my car for life and this way I'd know the engine was a good 'un. From what I have heard the Turner Engineering units are superb and my communication with them so far has been excellent.
Thanks for opinions and ideas.
I went down this exact route when i did my 200tdi swap, the gas flowed head for me seems so much better delivering the power-much smoother than the old lump that was in there before, Yes it is a tad expensive but to be honest after the use mines had It's peace of mind when dealing with a decent company as Turners, If I needed another engine I would certainly be ringing them up and asking for them to do any work I wanted doing

We will remember them...

Plumber, would you modify your avatar thingy and put your location in as then the members on the forum would be able to help regarding a decent garage close-ish to you

Dave, My mates got his caravan on my drive-right under a huge oak tree and he covers it up with a large tarp as it does the same thing as your's are doing, I'm pretty sure you can trim them back"if they're causing damage" ?

The last time I had any form of condensation was during the time without a headlining In my 110, Since I've had a headlining/roof lining in my 90, I've not suffered with any form of condensation

Ross, Surely you can make up your own mind where you need to put them?
Not everyone will put them exactly where you think you should put them?

Blimey, I think my mid life crisis has Just kicked in and that is a Very nice Radio bodied 101-I've hankered after a 101 for a lot of years, I used to drive them serving in the Army and always thought they were good-, looking like that, I may have to have a look for one at a later date, once I've finished my house etc.

So do you think the reconditioned price is about the right level? I don't want to rip anyone off but nor can I afford to give it away.
The price of the diffs I have(singularly) are £390 each, (thats what Paddocks were advertising on their siteWhere I was originally going to get my 4 pin diffs from), It make's me almost think that that were getting they're 4 pin 24 spline diffs from the same place as I did- actually get them from, but advertised as "be brand new diffs", Personally as It stands the standard of the two diffs I have are as good as new, If I Have any problems with either of them in the next 12 months I'll be getting hold of Steve at Crown diffs and having a chat with him.

I fully appreciate that people can get caught out but FFS please someone should knock some sense into the other original purchases(buyers)of this 90-This price is obscene!!
John

I recently went and got myself a pair of 4 pin diffs from crown diffs up near Nottingham and they cost me £810.00 inc delivery, These were completely reconditioned and looked brand new when they arrived, they've been spot on-no moans and groans from that part of my drive train anymore.

Query for the welding experts:
HTS2000 weldybrazy stuff? Would this be suitable for my purposes inside my roof? I'm getting the proper welder fellow to do the pretty TIG welds on the outside of the frame for me - the ones that are seen and very structurally important.
But there are a load more little spot welds needed inside to attach the various L brackets that bolt the new roof to the old roof, and to put in attachment points (lots more L brackets) for ply to be screwed to etc. which it would make sense to do myself.
And there's also the 19mm box section framing for the roof panel to do, needing attached to the frame and to itself to create the skeleton to support the roof sheet.
Would this HTS stuff be suitably strong enough for all of this?
John, Would it not be better for the gent doing your Tig welding to carry on and make it as good as what you have on the outside now? as It would be a shame for it to fail-the project that is, If your spot welds etc aren't up to par-I'm not disrespecting your capability to weld, but seeing as the tig welding gent has done such a good job so far surely letting him carry on and completing the further/future welds would make sense as it'd look as good on the inside as it does on the outside.

I do question why they're not cast like others-V8/TD5 et-al, That would make life so much nicer for all concerned

John, you can't say all remoulds are rubbish on the basis of one set - there are many different brands, compounds and treads. It's like saying all cars are rubbish because you tried a Micra...
Nick,
I made the post/comment due to the two types of remoulds I have had on my 90-Mud pluggas made by olympic and the greenway macho(not amazon as I said before) remoulds both were of a poor construction and on the machos(12 months old) the side wall fell apart, the mud pluggas (2 years old) as I said the side walls had perished to the point of you being able to see the original carcass underneath, the daft part about the situation with the tyres were the fact that I'd done less than 6000 miles in any-one year as i was working In Iraq at the time and spent 3 months away and 1 month home, I appreciate my comment may have been a little rash as I know time and technology has moved on since I last had a set of remoulds on my 90(about 6 years ago) and the construction of remoulds may have gotten better too but In the interest of my own well being and my sometimes passengers I've now gone down the route of using original tyres-i.e:, not remoulds, and have been much happier ever since, I currently run goodyear Wrangler MTR's on it at the mo and find them to do what I want-In the mud and also on the road too, I also appreciate that some of us are on limited budgets-including me at times but I was lucky and got them at cost through a friend who runs his own tyre and exhaust business

Another thumbs up for Academy Insurance.

Barry, I've always found Academy to be reasonable on cost for my 90's policy, However I will have a look around next year when It's due for renewal as I've just got a policy fully comp for my transit (SD&P) with recovery as it's a van and I don't think my bank one will cover it, for £259.00 with Aviva and without the recovery for £189.00 fully comp-with one claim too
