  1. Hi, You might want to check out the Sealey 240V one. OK it's not in the Snap On league but at about £145 delivered to your door and over 500ft/lb it seems like good value. check out: Here For discount Sealey tools. Santa is bringing a 240V one for me as replacing batteries is expensive and they would always be flat when I needed them Lots of battery powered ones on a famous auction site if you prefer. Paul
  2. I had to cut through two of the radius arm bolts on the 90. Didn't want to risk accidentally taking away some of the mounting by using an angle grinder. I used a single ended hacksaw. First cut had to go through the bush inner tube as well as the bolt but having knocked that out and got some play at at least the second cut only had to go through the bolt. Use plenty of copper grease when you put the new ones in like they should have done when they built it ! Paul

Please try again later I've been getting that for days. Has the serach engine been switched off the reduce the "overload" problem ? Paul
  4. After considering a few of the options suggested I went for 255/85/16 BFG MT's in the end. They certainly, um, fill the arches. Look a bit close to the bottom edges of the plastic eybrows but nothing makes contact lock-to-lock on the road. Off road might be a different story - will check that out at the weekend when I have a bit more time. Paul
  5. BogBuster, Have you tried using a big lever on the rear axle ball joint to check for any play ? That has been the source of annoying "clonks" on my 90 but the play isn't obvious without some leverage. Just a thought. Paul
  6. 33x12.50R15 in the picture look pretty good to me, I'll gop check some prices. I think 35's would make 5th gear redundant and I don't really want to lift the suspension. Cheers, Paul
  7. . . . set of wheels/tyres I can fit to the 90 without having to start cutting the bodywork ? Probably been asked a million time before but I can't find the answer here or on the "other place". Not used as daily road transport so they can be quite aggresive but I really don't want to start cutting the pannels. Paul
  8. Well got it all back together and . . . Started up fine and was so quiet I had to double check it was actually runnning ! Normal puff of black smoke on start up and a wisp of light grey smoke when cold but none of the thick white smoke that was there before. Thanks for all the help and advice, particularly to Western. Might have a go at tuning up the injection pump next as I suspect the previous owner had it fiddled with (I've got a receipt somewhere). Trying to get it running properly with the valve timing all up the chuff I suspect. I'll be checking that pulley bolt for each weekend for a while as well. Was half tempted to put a spot of weld on it to make sure it don't come loose ! Regards, Paul
  9. Greg, The strange thing is that the woodruffe key for the timing sprocket looks fine. The one for the large crank damper doesn't look so good As the crank damper has been slopping about it seems to have picked up on the timing sprocket and taken that with it. Both front face of the timing sprocket and rear face of the crank pulley are quite worn. By bolting it up tight when in the right position you could just about get it to run (which somebody has done in the past) but once the revs go up for any length of time it all starts to move about again.   10. Les, I will get the parts ordered this week (I need quite a few!) and try to put it all back together next weekend. I don't get much time to work on it during the week. I just hope this sorts out the poor running once and for all. Paul

Having cleaned it up and given it a good coat of looking at I've come to the conclusion that this "stepped keyway" is just where the crank has worn away at the timing pulley allowing it to slop about backwards and forwards. If this works you might even get a picture ! Tip for the day - make sure your crank pulley is nice and tight. Paul
