  1. At the moment my SWB 200di with pull in 4th low overdrive without any drama at 20mph barley touching the throttle. Nick.
  2. Thats a bugger re the Disc diffs, I did not fancy fitting it with the turbo due the tale I have heard about them being to powerful for the series gearbox and tearing the innards apart. Nick.
  3. Hi Todd, only been running it about 3 weeks but after running my old 2.25d for the last 35 years the 200di seems like heaven, Pleased as punch with it and I am very glad I did not fit the turbo, in its present form I think its the perfect uncomplicated engine with more than enough power for me, not sure weather to fit the disco diffs or just stick with my overdrive, I towed my microlight aircraft to the airfield yesterday with it for the 1 st time approx 600kg total and it was easy. Nick.
  4. Well I did not have to Andy its still got the std series mounts all bolted to the 200 block.# Nick.
  5. Just fitted one to my Series 3 followed the advice here, http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/200di.htm Got him to mod my flywheel housing, And here http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/200tdiconversion.htm I got mine on ebay complete disco £350, I am very pleased with it, I did not fit it with the turbo but fitted it as a 200di Nick.
  6. Gee 250ft lbs, I wonder why they need to be this tight. Nick.
  7. Thanks mate, I wonder why they only fitted them to Discovery versions any idea. Nick.
  8. Ok I see, I wonder if the tension setting for the 200tdi with the idler is the same as the one without, the figs I have are 19nm for a new belt 17nm for an old belt. Nick.
  9. I am going to finish putting my 93 disco engine 200tdi back together tomorrow after fitting a new cam belt, I have to torque the crank pully bolt upto 200ft lbs, how can I lock the crank to get it that tight, even if I put it in gear and breaks on I think it will try to creep forwards on me. Nick.
  10. Hi all been putting a new timing belt on my 1993 disco 200tdi today, my engine has an idler as well as the tensioner but looking in the tech section on here and my workshop manual most engines seem not to have an idler why is this anybody know. Nick.
  11. Did fitting the new injectors cure the oil leak Marco has it stopped leaking now. Nick.
  12. Thanks for getting back to Marco, I am not quite sure if you are telling me you dont have the leak anymore since you changed your injectors is that correct. Nick.
  13. Hi there Marco did you ever get to the bottom of this as I have the same problem with my number 4 injector leaking engine oil, Cleaned everything with petrol so I can see were its coming from and the only thing I can see is the injector, I have only just fitted this 200tdi to my S3 Landrover and when I bought it the rocker cover gasket was leaking badly, I am wondering if maybe the space around the injector could have filled with leaking oil from the rocker cover gasket and it just the remains peculating out, Anyway how did you go on with yours Marco. Nick.
  14. Hi guys I run a motor fitted with a 200 tdi engine not had it long but have noticed an engine oil leak not diesel, that appears to be coming from the head area around the rear injector , I have cleaned the area with gunk but cannot see the exact spot but its not from the rocker cover gasket I am sure, Any ideas anybody as I hate oil leaks. Nick.
  15. Hi all I need to re-fit the flywheel housing on my 200tdi engine, I was wondering if the big gasket that goes between the flywheel housing and the engine block should have some sealant on before fitting, I do have a new gen parts gasket and it has what maybe but not sure what looks to be a blue line of is it sealant on both sides???????? Same question for the rocker cover gasket as well does that need any. Nick.
  16. I have the turbo/manifolds off as I wont be using them when I fit the engine in my S3 as a 200di, I took a look at the turbo the other night after Les saying about worn bearing and sure enough I could reach in and found abnout 2/3 mm of lift in the spindel, Would that account for the oil in the mouth of the inlet manifold, Also does that mean the turbo is u/s as I was hoping to flog it, it showed no ill effects when driving it home after buying it. Nick.
  17. Hi Les, do turbos tend to blow a bit of oil past the seal. Nick.
  18. Hi guys I have bought an old Disco (ebay) just for the engine 200tdi 93 model, I drove it home after buying it 70miles with not trace of smoke from the exh, and no fumes after taking the filler cap off the rocker cover engine running and nice and warm, the engine to me but I have never driven one before pulled very well, But I am a bit concerned at the black engine oil coating the inside of the inlet manifold, I am wondering if this could be from the turbo as the outlet also has a coating of engine oil on it, I wont be upset if it is the turbo as I am not using it, So any ideas guys. Nick.
  19. Bone shaking ride, sound about right for a series Landy, shocker with no oil in will not make the ride stiffer just much more bouncy maybe even softer but no resistance to stop it rebounding. Nick.
  20. It is going to be scraped Les so I will try you idea, thanks everybody. Nick.
  21. As it says in the title guys, I have got an L reg disco for its 200tdi engine and I am stuck, I just cannot get the very top bell housing nut off there is just no room between the bell housing and the body, can anybody put me out of my misery it seems impossible, I seem to have 13 when I thought there were supposed to be 12. Nick.
  22. Many thanks Les just the info I wanted to hear, I like to keep things as simple as possible. Nick.
  23. I will check my tester I think, just tried it on my S3d and just after start-up thats showing 16.4v, Maybe worth getting a new one under £6 at aldi at the moment. Nick.
  24. Les so are you saying run the big thick wire that runs from my present starter key switch that now goes to the heater plugs resistor direct, to the heater plugs on the disco engine without running thru the relay of course after removing the resistor, To me that makes sence as I don't have any extra relays ect on my S3 2.25D and had no probs over the last 35 years with it like that. Nick.
