  1. Hi all I have a 1995 110 defender and I'm trying to replace the drop arm ball joint. I managed to get the top collar out but I can't get the new one in. I've tried hitting it with a socket and hammer, I've tried a large G-clamp which some have suggested I even tried to get the drop arm off but it won't come off. I've tried all that I can think of and have come to a standstill. I'm now at the end of my tether, any suggestions?
  2. Hi all I've got a 1995 defender 110 and am very new to mechanicing. I have to replace all the seals and gaskets for the swivel point housing/cv joints. Due to short funds I have to try and do it myself. My questions are: 1. Can anybody tell me a part number(s) for the swivel pin housing and cv joint gasket and seal kit? I have seen it at Paddocks but I'm not sure which is which. 2. Is there any special tools needed to do this? 3. Can anybody supply any photo's/ instructions on how to replace them? ps. The gasket that has gone is the very back one where it connects to the front axel. If I am going to do this one I might as well do all of them while I've got the hub and swivel head off. I'm very grateful for any help. Roy
  3. Thanks Matt I have got the owners manual and a workshop manual, it's my fault, I read it wrong. I was reading about the manual steering instead of the power steering  All the levels checked and are ok, thanks to this and other forums. I'm very new to both land rovers and mechanicing, thanks again Roy
  4. Hi all I have a 1995 land rover defender 110 which I believe has power steering box rather than a manual one. When it has been serviced I don't think the box has been checked for oil level. My manual only tells you how to check the manual box so is it possible to check the oil level on a power steering box, if so does anyone know how? Thanks Roy
  5. thanks western I have the rave cd &it tells me the same thing as you but my book tall me it as a gasket. I will get a O ring tomorrow thanks again. Roy
  6. Hi all I'm about to take off the engine breather filter to clean it and according to the workshop manual when refitting it you need to fit a new gasket, but I can't find any reference to a gasket and I have read elswhere that it doesn't have one. Can anyone help? ps I have a 1995 defender 110 300TDi
  7. Hi nickliv Wen I did mine I had to unscrew the clocks panel & pull forward as it overlaps the dash but mine is a defender 110 1995 hope this helps
  8. Cheers western I'll give the ptfe tape a try
  9. Thanks for getting back to me. It's not leaking from the seals but through the Diff Drain Filler Plug. I fitted a new one but that does the same. I just wondered if this thicker grease would work. Thanks anyway.
  10. Hi all I have a Defender 110 1995. After speaking to my local garage he recommended putting one shot swivel housing grease in instead of the EP90 oil. Can anyone tell me if you can use this in the front and back axle as well because the back axle leaks. I've tried a new locking nut but it still leaks slightly. I wondered if this one shot stuff would help as it normally would use the same type of oil. Thanks Royaub
  11. Thanks a lot guys, I will look into it
  12. Hi all I am new to this forum and also new to Landrovers and wonder if someone can help me. I have a 1995 Landrover Defender 110 Station Waggon that at some point has been fitted with a Kenlowe electric radiator fan which has a relay and an adjustable thermostat wired directly to the alternator. I have a feeling that the thermostat is broke as the fan isn't working. Is it safe and possible to connect the fan directly to the alternator so that it is always running when the ignition is on or directly to the battery with an in-line fuse and a switch so that I can switch it on and off when I need to and would I need a relay on that? Thanks I wait with interest. Roy B)
