  1. Ok So most of us have been out competing in our landys recently.

How long do you spend cleaning it after wards?

After howlin wolf round 1 - approx 6-7 hours.

    after Challenger 4x4 round 1 - approx 4 hours.

how long do you take

    Dan

Well the last 2 comp's that i did <_< hard to say, not very long :P

  2. all very good having this stuff - - but to be honest - If your doing it properly - e.g. wading through chest deep to make sure the car and driver will make it through - your gona be wet, and filthy. why spend out on stuff that will get trashed in minutes, or will sorta keep your dry in a puddle but not whilst wading - other than a dry suit you have no chance. All the biatch needs to be concerned about is grip - - without that you get run over..

cheap pair of boots and socks to go with it - -a little duck tape to stop the laces coming undone and job done. you will not notice the cold, wet, mud whilst competeing because you should be running about all day - -I am rarely in the car on these events - no point, wastes time - -its quicker to run about.

    just my pennies worth.

Got to agree with my mate ............. it's about getting the job done! it's not about ''staying dry'' you need to know how deep stuff is and if there's anything in there thats going to damage the car or get it so stuck your waste load's of time getting it out...... Good boot's for the driver as he's sat still and will get very cold :P

Grip load's of it......... plus being fit'ish, light and fast help............. i'm none of those!!!:lol::rolleyes:

  3. Maybe making the regs "secret" means people assume the worst, I'd shown an interest in the event but haven't had any further details maybe others are in the same boat.

Good point....... i dont think people have any idea whats involved to get there cars up to spec, or a spec list to start from!

  4. I'm amazed the entries aren't flying in. We really do need to support it!

No surprise really, look at all the talk about the French xtreme......... who's going now, just Kev and i, plus i think Zolly and Lee........

  5. Slightly O/T but at the Howling Wolf yesterday I felt a bit left out, I was one of a minority that had only one motor on my 8274 top housing. Twin motors have certainly caught on.

Doubt if I will get mine before xmas :( .

Forget lockers get 4 wheel steer

Awdc Howlin wolf yestrday.....The axles on both the 1st & 2nd overal cars where not l/rover!:P

  6. What a great weekend, A big thank you to Neil and the team and all that worked hard to set the site up, well done to all the wnner's. We had a good start untill we lost a tyre of the inner rim  but so did a few other's at the same spot  we lost to much time looking for punch 15 and still did not find it

Car came out with no problem's (big up Chris top car fella) all we need to do is wash it change the oil's and fit some inner tubes.

Just go's to show you don't need to be a racing whippit co-driver.............. just look at the top 2 on the day ;) well done Jamie!

Kev is having a little sleep as he's tired after all that driving, he said his old co-driver was rubbish (thanks mate)............any one know who he is in case i meet him

Chin up Dan.......always next time...........nearly tripled your score :o;):lol:

Roll on round 2......Kirton  Water???

  7. Well im a bit confused and fear i have forgotton something as my car is on the trailer and ready to go. Hey i even ran it through an MOT! ( yes i know, just thought why not) Perhaps i was not radical enough with the grinder (Boothy) as it has been done for a short while now. We shall see what falls off this year!!!!! Rob, Orange or Lemon?

    Thongs........

  8. hello everyone, ive booked up for the 1st event probably gonna do all of them, car's nearly ready just 2 weeks of hard graft left!!!

just wondered what are the arrangements for camping/staying over for the saturday night as i dont fancy getting up early sunday?

    thanks in advance.

    Daniel.

Just turn up on Saturday and pitch up your tent fella :P

  9. I'm pondering the ratios for my diffs in the d-lander....

She's pretty light by comparison to a 90

    TD5 engine (mildly tuned)

    4HP22 Autobox with compushift

    1.410 Transfer box

37" Maxxis Creepys (to be joined with similar size simex/boggers)

Will the standard 3.54 diffs be ok or do i really need to consider 4.11/4.7's??

I had a Td5 with a tuned ecu, R380 and a 1.410 t/box and a set of Dave Ashcroft 4.75 c/p and low range was just right on 37'' bogger's, high range was a little low for on the road but it did get of the mark well!! :o:lol:
