  1. Thanks for the info and sorry about the wrong forum. I am still finding my way about. Cheers, Paul
  2. Thanks for that Andy, I get what you mean now. Good idea that you can use as a bed or a sofa.
  3. Thanks for the advice. I am going to give the two clubs a call that Rejo passed on
  4. Thanks for the link Yellow. Looks like a good site.
  5. Thanks for the numbers Rejo. I will give them a call
  6. Thanks for that Andy. If you do find the pics that would be great. Cheers, Paul
  7. Hi, One of the main reasons I bought the LR is to tour around Europe and maybe North Africa. I have spent a lot of time in Transylvania, and I am looking forward to getting back there with the Landy. I was thinking of fitting a bed in the back as it is a 110 CSW. Has anybody got any experience of this rather than putting a tent up top? I thought of taking out the 2nd row middle seat, then laying marine ply at bench seat level. Partitions under the ply with small flap doors on top giving acces to storeage space underneath? Cheers, Paul
  8. I went down to a big lake near Duelmen today with the dog. I put my foot down on the autobahn, and although the speed goes up to 70-75mph, it seems to be working hard. To be honest it was best at 60-65mph. But from waht all of you have said that sounds pretty fair. I will go over to British4x4 in Holland next month for a service, and get them to look at the injectors and intercooler. The ride is pretty comfortable, so I may leave the shocks and springs for now. Cheers, Paul.
  9. I wanted to put a roof rack on, but the garage door entrance is not big enough to accommodate one. Sounds like the garage has done me a favour!
  10. I agree. Just with nothing to compare with I wasn't sure if my landy is up to scratch. I am getting about 29mph, which seems pretty good.
  11. Maybe a few years back, but the army is full on at the moment. I don't want to add to their burden with my problems. Cheers, Paul
  12. Thanks for that. Does that mean that Arrow Red, Portofino Red, Corallin Red are the same? The pointer chart sticks them all next to one box of red? It must be the arrow, as it is a solid colour and manufactured in 1994? Cheers, Paul
  13. Thanks for that! I checked the prices on that web site, fantastic! Never heard of it before, but that's great. I take it with a shopping list like that, you have got to be British? Iron brew? Probably Scottish?? Being a garrison town, the biggest supermarket here stocks several British products to keep us happy. Then we have the Naafi too. Essen is quite close so the information would be welcome. I found a two clubs that have been very welcoming and friendly. However, one is in Bavaria, the other in Austria. I cannot speak German, and I can understand the reluctance to answer e-mails in English, especially with me being in their country. I am just going to have to bight the bullet, and make more effort with learning. I can order a beer which I thought essential!
  14. I thought the same before I got my 110, no LR's to be seen anywhere. However, since I have got it, I have seen several in Muenster alone. Probably notice them now with lights flashing and people waving. I think it is odd to see a uk civi LR as they only tend to see army ones round here. Where are you visiting exactly?
  15. Hi, My 110 is red. How can you tell if it is Arrow or Alveston? I want to buy a touch up pen, but I'm not sure which one to go for. Cheers, Paul
  16. Yes, he appears to be an honest chap. I was thinking of combining a vist to his garage with a trip home, via Rotterdam to Hull.
  17. Do you know Rob Stewart? I must admit he is very detailed with quotes and work. By far the best communicator of all the garages I have approached.
  18. Thanks rejo, I am civilian working with the army. I found a British run business called British4x4 near Amsterdam. They sound pretty good, and are up front about costs. All Dutch/German prices seem higher than in the Uk though. Maybe there in more competition back home for business. What sort of Land Rover do you have? Is there much going on in the German scene regarding Land Rover meetings etc? Regards, Paul
  19. Hi, Does anyone know where you can buy those tiny fabric washers for external light lenses? I changed a few of the lenses, re-applied the screws but the fabric washers were totally perished, and couldn't be re-used. I can't find them anywhere. Cheers, Paul
  20. Thanks Muddyplugger! That is reassuring to hear ref the speed. I drove it from the UK to Germany where I live. After 500 miles I felt like I had been put through a blender! So I find it remarkable when I see postings of people planning trips down to South of France, Spain and even North Africa. They make it sound so easy, but that must be one hell of a trip in a Defender. I used to drive 1300 mile each way to Transylvania in a Volvo XC70, and thought that was bad. Maybe I have been too spoilt, and just need to slow down a bit. Getting there was the objective in past, rather than taking any pleasure in the trip itself getting there. Even in the short time I have had the LR, I seem to be taking trips that I would never had considered in the past. Because you are not going anywhere fast you seem to stop more and take more notice of what's on route. Cheers, Paul.
  21. Hi, I am relatively new to LR's. I have a Defender 110 CSW 200Tdi 1994, 141 000 miles. I have had it a month. My first question is, what do you think the price should be for the above in good condition? I have bought it to do mainly green laning and touring around Europe. What would say would be a comfortable cruising speed for the above. I have nothing to compare with, so I'm not sure if mine is sluggish or normal. It seems quite comortable at 65mph on the autobahn. Does that seem ok? Cheers, Paul.
  22. Thanks Western, I thought a larger intercooler gives more grunt, I have heard up to 30-35% more?
