  1. When I was reading Nigel post I kept thinking.."what the hell was he thinking", common sense says go to the Quacks and let the experts deal with something like.. But then I have to look at my own hands and forearms from my contracting and Army days to see the many marks left by Stanley blades and any other sharp implements I could find to dig out splinters and insect bits......and then I am reminded by a dull pail in my left leg of a recent injury that occurred through being a little reckless with hindsight that could have cost me a foot..and it only took me 5 weeks to go get it X-rayed to find out that I had splintered a 50p piece off the bone and detached the muscle in one place....no wonder it hurt...they wanted to plaster me up, but I said no..have to go to work...
  2. Matt, I have just replaced the propshaft coupling rubber on mine for this very reason. I knew it had a couple of minor splits but was waiting for better weather, well it started knocking and clanking coming home from a DOC meeting a few weeks back...ordered a new GKN unit from JGS4x4 on eBay, replaced it and no problems. Don't bother with the kits unless it is a GKN one as they are Britpart and the bolts are rubbish, waste of money paying extra for what you won't dare to use..
  3. If the vehicle still has the EGR fitted then it will have oily deposits in the turbo hoses as this will be muck from the exhaust manifold too. I would suggest that you blank off and remove the EGR, replace the top hose with a new one as this will have the EGR pipework in the original, but I would also suggest you change the Oil Crank Case breather as has been suggested above. I replace mine every 50,000 miles..instead of the £82 from Alisport, I but £10 units from onl;ine suppliers and that way I am not wasting money..
  4. I wonder if you get a better premium quote from NFU if your actually an NFU member?
  5. My current Insurance is with Adrian Flux, but it won't be when it comes up for renewal in May. I had some donkey break a Mirror driving like a..well a donkey..he crossed the white line and bam..reported it to the Police for a failure to stop as the hire company the van belonged to just gave me verbal on the phone. Anyway, I called up Flux to let them know, as I knew the Police would get in touch, explained that I would not be putting in a claim as I had given Halfords a tenner for new glass. Next thing I know is I get a premium hike in the post as the "accident" was "in London" and I hadn't told them I would go into the city, they wanted to ADD £439.12 to the Policy FFS. Called them up immediately and I explained that Waltham Abbey is Hertfordshire and I never drive in London as they have things called trains that travel underground...it took multiple phone calls and three weeks for them to understand this point...also a threat that I would tell the story on Land Rover forums (oops) and my then employer (News International) who I'm sure would do a nice piece in one of their news papers, I also through in Watchdog for good measure. When it was resolved I thought, ok, it was an error...when I checked my bank account, the cheeky goits had took £126 from my account..the monthly payment should have been £68.25! The woman on the end of the phone explained that this was due to adjustments they had to make to the policy as I was using the truck for work purposes, I explained I did not use the truck for work, I had a company car and driving two at the same time, whilst I like to think I'm a good driver (don't we all have delusions), I'm not that bloody good. Anyway, they refunded the difference, then the next month, same again, but this time it was only £75.93. Called them up..it was adjustments made as the area we live in had been reclassified...WTF...I tried to explain that this was the address when i took out the flipping policy, they cannot change it just like that..well they said if I didn't like it I could cancel the policy, but then I would have to pay the outstanding balance on the policy. So I would have to pay for the Policy if cancelled, but not have it!! And they called Dick Turpin and highwaymen!! Needless to say in May Adrian Flux can go flux himself
