  1. right an update replaced the turbo with a good second hand unit no play in the shaft however oil warning light still remains on, still burning oil and smoke coming from oil filler cap it is very difficult to turn over and sounds like its almost seized really unsure what could cause it
  2. hi i also have playing my turbo vanes and when ticking over there is the occasional popping sound and feeling the turbo housing when it pops feels like something is hitting the inside, however the oil warning light is also on so was wondering would a faulty turbo cause the oil warning light to come on. im also burning oil. took the oil filler cap off and smoking/ burning oil smell comes out any help would be great
  3. took the turbo off today, lots of play on the spindle, however im unsure if replacing the turbo will solve the oil warning light issue
  4. found the cause of the noise its something hitting the inside of the turbo so think thats seen better days, however would this cause the oil warning light to come on
  5. i check quite frequently, there seems to be no visible major leaks however took the intercooler hoses and intercooler out and found there coated in oil
  6. Hi im new to this forum, i have a problem with my 300tdi discovery, yesterday i drove it about 6 miles no faults or issues. Then left it for around two hours then started it up and oil warning light came on. I drove it about two miles but still kept on with a funny popping sounds at random intervals. pulled up took the oil filler cap off and smoke came out of there. it is also majorly underpowered now so am at a complete loss hope someone can help. cheers dale
  7. hi got the same problem with my landrover discovery 300tdi at the min, can you explain how to check it with the core plug out, is that the black plug at the top of the thermostat housing could the thermostat also the reason why it would do this.
  8. cheers for the replies everyone doesn't sound to bad to do so will have a go at it next weekend the cheapest price i have found is 35 quid is this reasonable or is there somewhere cheaper anyone knows??

  10. hi everyone first time posting hoping someone can help my rear door bottom hinge pin has sheered and i was wonder if there was anywhere i could buy the replacement pins. if not the cheapest place to find new hinges and whether it would make sense changing both hinges at the same time. is it an easy job to do and what tools will i need its a 300tdi 3 door cheers dale
