  1. Here is a short video showing the suspension working, don't worry about the noisy springs http://vimeo.com/89254196
  2. Good to see that you still obviously read what is happening on AULRO Bill.Even if you don't grace us with your presence any more.I am only regular when there is a subject that comes up that interests me. As far as axle tramp is concerned,I tend to play fairly hard, and the local area is basically large sandstone rocks and ledges and whilst I don't have a lot of power from the 200Tdi,I do run large soft tyres and also run an Underdrive, and have noticed that the vehicle is much more driveable and stable in all situations that I have had it,than it was prior to the fitting of the arms, with no signs of axle tramp. That is not saying that if you put it behind something with 500BHP that it isn't going to happen. But that isn't what it was made for,it was made as a simple bolt in alternative to the standard arms that will markedly improve the offroad ability of Land Rover vehicles.Which having driven it,I can assure you it does. The arms even allow the original sway bars to be fitted if people so desire. This is a pre requisite to having the arms engineered in Australia. It still doesn't have anywhere near the travel of you truck Bill ,but it gets the job done and it Makes Nissans and Toyotas look silly.
  3. Ok to answer a few of the questions, the mounts for the dampers are Gwyn Lewis, the dampers are 14" Amada Extreme, and the arms allow the dampers to be maxed out.And yes the arms are made here in Australia by Superior Engineering.I did a lot of consultation with Greg, the Engineer from Superior,in organising the arms for Land Rovers. These arms are not new to the Automotive world, just to Land Rovers! They have been available for Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrols for a few years now.So the engineering principles have been well proven as has the strength of the products. The arms weigh approx 15KG and have been used and abused in many competition vehicles over here, without failure. At the moment the arms are available for standard height vehicles and also caster corrected for vehicles with 2" lift. The arms fitted to my old truck are the prototypes and the first fitted to a Land Rover anywhere, they have since been sold to quite a few of the guys over here.As far as on road driving is concerned, the vehicle actually drives better than when I had the standard arms and raised suspension.Offroad, there is no comparison, the vehicle is infinately more stable especially in cross axle and climbing and descending large rock dropoffs. As far as torque effects when driving on the road is concerned,I have virtually zero torque steer, which is more than I can say for a friend of mines 2014 standard Puma. We were not aiming to try and compete with 3 Links or guys trying to re-invent the wheel,we were after something that would allow the average Land Rover to increase the available travel in the front end, whilst maintaining safety and driveability.Obviously improvements will be limited by the rest of the suspension ie mounts ,dampers etc.And in case anyone asks, apart from knowing the engineer,I have no affiliation with the company that is making them.I just gave my input on what I considered would work with Land Rovers and what I though Land Rover guys would be happy with.So I thought I would show you something else that is now available.
  4. Here are some pics of my new superflex arms fitted to my 110 showing flex The arms allow me to max out a set of 14" shocks
  5. Thank you very much. Now if I can work out how to get Mcrocat to work,I will be even happier.
  6. Hi I need to replace the tailgate seal on my 2001 130 HCPU and can't find the part number,as my copy of Microcat wont work in my computer. If someone could help me out it would be appreciated. Wayne
  7. Thanks for that, that was exactly what I need to find out, seems that there is a special version that fits with the Underdrive.Saves me a lot of hassle ordering the incorrect parts,as it is a long way to send them back for exchange from Oz.
  8. I have a 110 Defender with an Ashcroft Underdrive fitted.I am wondering if there will be enough clearance to fit an X Brake setup, without having to modify brackets etc.?
  9. I have a set of custom made Kings springs in my Defender, but mine is set up a lot differently than the vehicle I am talking about here. The Kings are superior to the OME springs in every way. Wayne
  10. The vehicle doesn't have an arb fitted, they were an accessory on 110s here in 1985,and he is definately not interested in fitting one.Funny because my Defender with 3" lift and running 35's is much more stable than the Jap vehicles that monopolise over here. I also have progressive rear springs in my truck, but they are too heavy for the vehicle with the Boge unit, just need to find out what springs to run
  11. Unfortunately the O.M.E springs give a terrible ride on our roads(I am in Australia)they are way too hard and restrict articulation. And for the use that our vehicles get, anti roll bars definately restrict wheel travel.
  12. Yes we have looked at the Deflex setup, but for this setup,it would be easier and less expensive to run a normal sway bar and just have split pin disconnects. He is wanting to do away with sway bars altogether. Progressive springs seems to be the best idea in my train of thought, but what rate springs are people using in conjunction with a working Boge unit and still maintaining a supple ride?
  13. A friend of mine has a 110CSW that he has just taken the stiff aftermarket springs and shocks off,and has bought a new Boge unit and wants to fit standard springs. Now I know this is standard, but here is where we differ. He is fitting some of Gwyns Challenge mounts F & R along with the associated bits including shocks. We are worried that with the 180lb rear springs and not wanting to run a rear sway bar, that there will be too much body roll.Normal Defender springs are too heavy and give a harsh ride, has anyone found a spring that gives a soft compliant ride that is slightly firmer than the 180lb standard springs, but allows the vehicle to sit at relatively stock height. I keep on trying to convince him to use something similar to my Defender setup and ditch the Boge unit, but because it is new,he wants to use it. Regards
  14. I went through this a few weeks ago with my 94 200Tdi 110.I ended up with a Bearmach tank and I left off the cradle as that is why they rust.I ended up fitting a bearmach steel bash plate. All fitted properly no leaks. And a good price!!!! Wayne
  15. Daan This is what I am in the process of doing now.I won't use the cradle but aftermarket tank guards are very expensive. So I am going to buy some sheet steel and make my own, probably out of 2mm mild steel and will double plate the damage prone areas.I think 3mm plate is too heavy and not needed across the whole tank. Wayne
  16. Yeah, this is exactly what happened to mine.It was rusting from outside in,under the cradle, and I managed to pust the buttom of the cradle up a couple of MM on a large rock which on inspection I found that a piece of grit had been forced through a rusty spot on the bottom of the tank.
  17. Thanks for that.It made some interesting reading and confirmed my suspicions. I have found an independent LR place that has an aftermarket tank that is made in Canada for a good price,so have ordered it,hopefully I don't have any problems.
  18. My 94 200Tdi fuel tank has rusted out from the outside, between the tank and the cradle.I am wondering what replacement tanks people were fitting as I guess that rusted tanks were more of a problem in Britain than over here in Australia.I have found a supplier here who has *ri*part tanks here for a reasonable price, and there is a supplier who can supply an OEM tank at twice the price of the *ri*part one,but cant tell me if it is LandRover brand or not, only OEM,and any for of custom tank will be at least double the price of the OEM tank.I like most try to avoid *ri*part stuff, but wondering if the fuel tank will be OK? Regards
  19. I looked at the Raptor cubby box,but I specifically want the section at the front to mount a radio, and the Raptor box doesn't have this feature. Wayne
  20. Yeah I might just buy the unit sold by Extreme 4x4,it is cheaper but it will still fulfill the function that I require ie has a separate compartment for mounting a radio or in my case a CB.Unless anyone has another suggestion????? Wayne
  21. Ali I sent them an email in February asking about the price and also if they shipped to Australia.I received a reply from Clare???? that shipping to me would be £85 which I was prepared to pay. My 110 is set up as a weekend weapon, and I like the idea of lightweight draws for the rear to keep weight down and to be able to keep things organised.Hopefully someone will either answer their phone or reply to my email so that I know which direction to go with. Wayne
  22. Ali I have purchased a lot of stuff from O/S both from the U.K and the U.S. and as long as the item you order is under A$1000 there is no additional cost ie import duty.Sometimes I have had to make a couple of separate orders over a few weeks to keep below the A$1000 threshold. For what I am after here there is no problem.......apart from actually being able to purchase the item. By the way,I like the storage draws, they look compact and well made. Are they very heavy? Wayne
  23. Yea this is the changed web site that I went to,and the the phone number that I have been calling.Oh well,if I don't get any response,I guess I will have to look elsewhere for something similar. The problem is that I am in Australia, and I need to get it sent here!!! Wayne
