  1. thanks a lot for the advice. what do you mean that the 2 grease nipple pointing in the same direction? i'm going to change both uj's on both prop front and rear. so when putting the new one's on a prop both grease nipple should be pointing in the same direction at both end of the prop!!! did i get that right or am i mis understanding something?

  2. Hi there it's me again!! I'm going to replace my uj's on both front and rear prop I was wondering is there any alignment I should be aware when I putting them back on? And I notice on my front prop that I can see nearly 1inch of the splines! But it's not seized it looks that the dust cap had just come off and moves backwards! Is that fixable it's dry as well!

  3. ah ok thanks for that going to order front and rear from paddock change my cv joint last week and now i notice there are some vibration i've inspect both propshaft and there's loads of play on both! i think it will be better to change the whole lot rather than just changing the UJ! if i'm wrong will anyone let me know please

  4. hi there i did mine yesterday evening after work took me a couple of hours but it's easy enought as long as you take your time and pay attention of what you are doing you'll be fine. the only tricky part is to seperate the cv joint from the stub axle but it could be easy if place in a vise! i've taken pictures of disassemble and reassembly with the new cv i'm going to upload them hopefully during the week.

    p.s: that was my first attempt but with the help of the other lads so just ask for help if you are stuck

Got it thanks for that piece of information and knowledge I'm from Mauritius myself but been in Ireland for 6 years still have loads to learn about the land rover but I'm really interested and I've got the passion and enjoy every minute spend on trying to fix it and so far it costing me a lot but there's no regret at all

  6. i was thinking of the cv joint as well!!! i've order one still waiting to replace it! it's still on the side of the road.while i was pushing it from the middle of the road the i notice that the steering was getting stir the engine was on!! what if it lock the steering? can i tow it this way without damaging the steering or i get it tow on a platform tyre recovery!!! any advice i'm afraid of driving it on difflock!!!

  7. just change my lt77 gear oil with atf dexron iii oil went for a test drive and never made it back home with the jeep!!! just broke down!!! all the gear engage no problem but when i stop and then start again on first gear put second and then don't know what happen when i push on the gas the jeep just rev up but would'nt move!!!! check underneath my front propshaft is turning!!! what's wrong....please help me there

  8. Thanks how can I see Ross topic? I'm thinking of doing it myself as mechanics here are just lazy and try to rip me off had very bad experience! I've read some threads in the tech section and it looks a long job and have to take my time but nothing to hard if I'm right!!! May be I'm wrong do you think that's a good idea I give it a go

  9. hi there i'm still working on my landy taking so much of my time but i'm enjoying it a lot so far even though i'm only a novice but learning a lot from you guys!!! now i've discover i need to replace my right hand cv joint!!!! is there any thread with pics or could someone help me with this please!and also what part number should i get and is it better to get a kit!!! my landy is a defender 90 2.5td year 1988 a J reg i think not sure!!!

  10. actually that you mention it it more like a click click click noise than a rattling it happen everytime i turn the steering completely to the right.... and feel loads on vibration underneath my seats when i hit like 50 miles per hour! is that the same cause or may be the propshaft not line up properly? thanks for helping really appreciate
