  1. Bit of a daft one, but can not seem to find the answer! The priming lever on my 200tdi lift pump doesn't appear to be working. I have an inline priming pump (pear pump) but just want to know where abouts to put it in te system? Should it be between the lift pump and filter (under pressure) or between the lift pump and tank (under vacuum)? Any help grately appreciated!
  2. I know what you mean about the dog, my mutt gets the short end of the lead if i need a cigarette! In fact, i smoke more when i'm driving my truck as well, let alone trying to fix it!
  3. I have a 1988 County with a 200tdi disco lump, different rear axle, lift kit, winch, and various other mods. I am 30 and insure the truck as a second vehicle so have no NCD. I insure through SureTerm direct and they only charge £250 fully comp with legal cover etc thrown in. They had no problems with mods but do limit my mileage to 3k a year. That's great for me, but no good if you use it everyday.
  4. Hi, The other day I went to use my winch (not in anger luckily) and got a lot of clicking from the solenoids. Went to try it again a couple of days later and got nothing! I took the solenoid pack off and got it tested by a sparky mate at work and found it was giving weird readings when bench testing (both solenoids coming on at once, etc). I presume the coils have died and it needs replacing as it is the original T-max unit that came with the winch. I have been looking at some Durite solenoids to replace it, but they say they only go up to 100amps. Is this enough for a 9500lb winch, as I thought they pull more than that? Also, are the Durite sols any good or should I put a nice original Albright on my Christmas list? Anyone got any ideas or comments? Thanks, Gravy
  5. Thank you everyone, some really good advice. After a lot more testing and by-passing of various bits of the circuit, it's looking more to be the stalk than anything else. Gonna borrow a spare from a mate and try that. Gravy
  6. I have not tried another flasher unit yet. I guessed as the right side worked, it would be ok, or is each side go through a separate part of the relay? As for an earthing fault, I will get the multimeter out and test them all. Cheers
  7. Hi everyone, I am having some troubles with my indicators in my County and was wondering if someone might be able to help. When I move the stalk to indicate right, I get normal flashing, all 3 lights work but no light on the dash. When I indicate left I get permanent light on the dash, the flasher buzzes like crazy and no lights come on. When I turned the hazards on, I get normal flash speed but only get lights on the right and none on the left :-/ I have replaced the hazard switch but this made no progress. I have tried bypassing the switch and stalk, as explained in another thread, by linking out behind the hazard switch but still have nothing on the left hand side. All the bulbs seem good and if I meter between the hazard socket an earth, it appears to get a connection albeit at a higher resistance than the right :-[ The fuse is good, the stalk meters ok and nothing appears to be loose. This problem seems to have come about since I fitted my mud dash, but can't think what might have caused it. Can anyone suggest any further investigation angles or things to test as I'm running short of ideas! Thanks in advance for any assistance.
  8. Hi all. This is my first post, so please be gentle!! I have a 1988 County and it has some alpine windows fitted in the roof as standard. It does concern me, when doing some lanes, that i will break these out with a low hanging tree/branch. I have seen enough dented roof lines to realise that it can get that close! Does anyone know of any products that are available to protect these windows, as i can not find anything!! I do not mind making a home made custom item, but just wanted some ideas/inspiration before i got the welder out. I have seen enough side window guards (more security than protection), but never found any for the top. I know an easy answer is to change the roof for one which is plain, but i thought i might be able to guard them instead as they do let it a bit more light in for the passengers. Thanks in advance to any ideas/suggestions/links etc.
