  1. Hi I saw them on Ebay recently as well, try this - http://cgi.ebay.com/Land-Rover-Discovery-Door-Lock-Repair-Spring-5-door-set-/200545578093?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb172ac6d Cheers, James NZ
  2. Hi Ally Yer the oak trees are fine, although its some of the old buildings that are a concern at the moment following our earthquake in September. Have you visited Christchurch? Cheers, James NZ
  3. Hi guys, Wow what a lot of replies! Thanks very much for the advise, I've decided to leave them alone for now. I should have also mentioned that my disco is a Japanese import, quite common here. To be honest I didn't realise that it would make a difference. At present New Zealand sort of has emission testing, it's not actually measured as such, more of a visual thing like the motor is obviously tired and blowing blue smoke. Ditto for diesels but for rich running (black smoke). I have duly noted the recommendation for NGK plugs. I fitted the Bosch as I remember them being a good brand and didn't want to remortgage the house to buy NGK's! They are a bl**dy silly price here I will however get some as today it clocked 120K's so time for a oil/filter change. I must add that this forum is great. Fixed two problems from searching the forums and everyone seems very friendly so I thought a $$ contribution would be in order. Cheers, James NZ
  4. Hi all, I was reading an article on the internet and it mentioned ""tired" oxygen sensors that should have been replaced". Which got me to thinking, should I be replacing mine? My vehicle is a 95 V8 Disco 1 with 119000 km's (74000 miles). There is another reason for this question. Some time after buying the vehicle I decided to service/replace everything so that I could start my own service history. Part of that entailed replacing all of the spark plugs. Some time after that I noticed the engine idle wasn't quite as smooth as before. The plugs that went in were Bosch. Cheers, James
  5. Hi Old hand Thanks for your reply. I fixed the landy this afternoon. I used a 12" crescent which fitted the 36mm nut. Slight tap and the viscous unit came off real easy! The slight play in the tensioner pulley I'll keep an eye on, it is only very slight movement. Overall the job went quite well, so well that I decide to start on some modifications I had in mind. I have another question but I'll start another thread as I'll have to upload a photo of the part in question. Thanks again for you help. Cheers, James NZ PS Is it normal to post an introduction to this site and if so under what forum?
  6. Hiya This morning I moved the disco ('95 V8) out to load it up for work tomorrow. Took the family out in the car, came back and parked up the drive just short of the landy, and noticed a puddle that was getting bigger as I watched it. Checked bottom hose (please be a loose clamp!!) it was loose but not loose enough. Took the serpentine belt off and watched the the water pump pulley flop over. Cr*p said the man. I thought whilst I'm there might as well check everything else and here is my question - how much movement is permissible for the tensioner pulley? Also do I need the special spanners that are mentioned in the workshop book? I'm thinking they would be very expensive down here, assuming I could buy them. I need to get it going again for this coming weekend as we have a local holiday here on Friday (Canterbury Anniversary) and we are leaving to go camping/4wd on Thursday. Cheers, James NZ
  7. Hi Thanks for the link. I have had a read and now have another question. The manual mentions service sheets, which presumably advise at what intervals jobs should be done. i.e under maintenance page 8 it says to change the charcoal canister. But at how many k's should this be done? Can anyone advise please? Thanks. Cheers, James NZ
  8. Hi all I have a '95 S1 V8 Disco that I bought at Christmas time with 108000km's on the clock. I did do an oil/filter change etc at about 112000km's (it was due then, and was serviced regularly by the previous owner)and it is about to clock up 120000km's. What I would like to know is there any information about regarding service schedules and the jobs performed at those intervals? Any help or pointers would be appreciated. Oh, and I did do a search here but couldn't find what I was looking for. I did find a rather long and interesting discussion regarding arachnids that kinda distracted me for a while Cheers, James NZ
