  1. and it definately isnt 100 A they didnt do one in that shape the biggest was a 70A,
  2. that has been reconditioned by somebody not being funny but it could have anything inside it, the only sure way to tell is to open it up and have a look at the rotor and stator.
  3. Don't know if it is the same as my 300 tdi disco, i did mine about 2 years ago (new oil seal housing and gasket) and it started leaking not long afterwards, so i have just done it again but this time used some loctite sealer on both sides of the gasket (only very thin bead though) seems ok for now............
  4. Hi, could anyone please tell me the part number for the front cover on an r380 disco tdi manual gearbox, suffix J. its the bit that the primary shaft passes through held on by 6 bolts inside the bellhousing. thankyou anyone.
  5. The fans do work (there are 2 fans by the way its got aircon) because if i take the connector off the ECT sensor the fans come on full blast and do not go off untill i stop the engine, i think this may be some sort of failsafe thing. From the looks of it they are a variable speed set-up, the hotter the engine the faster they spin hence the ECU, i might be wrong hopefully some of you guys will know more. Thanks.
  6. Had this one over a year and have never noticed them come on, already done the head gasket once do not want to be going down that road again!
  7. Hi, anybody know if the cooling fan ecu can be tested? vehicle is a 1.8 petrol freelander 53 plate, engine is hot but no fans coming on, new engine coolant temperature sensor fitted checked all fuses / fusible links and changed main relay, no difference. If left ticking over for 1/2 hour or so the needle goes to about half way on gauge, thermostat opening ok (modified remote thermostat fitted) it just seems very hot under there and i have never noticed the fans cutting in at all.
  8. I changed that bit when i did mine, cost about £25 genuine part. Easy enough to do just 3 bolts i think. The pivot itself is metal and the bracket bit is ally. On mine the pivot pin had worn into the bracket and was loose. The guy at the parts counter said its a modified one now, and showed me another couple where the pivot pin ball end had really worn away. Worth doing IMHO while your in there. I could find the part number out if you want. Regards, Jon.
  9. Hi everyone, can anyone tell me if the 'straight' drop arm on my disco (96 300 tdi) will fit straight onto a steering box with the 'bent' shaped drop arm. Is it a straight forward swap? or are the boxes different. Thanks in advance.
