  1. Is there a guide to rebuilding a fairey overdrive available?
  2. The tanks are 3mm thick I'm in the same boat at the moment. From recent reading on the net, in the UK it is not law to replace after ten years. I'm replacing my underslung tank with a second hand tank that has been in someone's boot. There's no rust at all, but this time I'm giving it a few coats of smoothrite before installing.
  3. Mine is a january 1972 6cylinder and it has the two short gutters. Also it has the four corner welded chassis.
  4. Very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to help. It now seems that the drawings may have an error............. perhaps. cheers --- Andy ---
  5. Repaired loads but not in that area. It must have left the factory like it is............... just cant get my head around why it doesn't match the available drawings. Yes, horizontal line through the 3 bulkhead bracket holes, then measure down vertical from said line to bush. All the other measurements check out fine.
  6. Cheers for your efforts. Mine is 120 too................................ its the chassis spring bush that I'm questioning.................. which can be easily measured by its relationship to the bulkhead bracket chassis holes............. if you get my drift. ie. what is the measurement from bulkhead bracket holes to spring bush hole. mine is 79 but the drawings suggest it should be 92 Cheers --- Andy ---
  7. Here ya go................. I have recently seen another drawing with a datum point below the chassis but the dimensions cross reference the same. Cheers --- Andy ---
  8. According to the only dimensioned drawing I can find............ from chassis datum to front spring chassis bush should be.......... P = 212.7 Datum to row of bulkhead bracket bolts.................. S = 120.6 So spring bush to bulkhead bracket bolts....... = 92.1 Now on my chassis.............. datum to chassis bush = 200 so 12.7 or 1/2" higher which gives 79 Anyone know why??? Maybe a 2a thing?? My chassis is 4 section corner welded............ or maybe a 2.6 thing?? Or maybe a station wagon thing?? Very curious, cheers, Andy . EDIT. P.S ITS A SERIES 3
  9. The rails are 3" wide from front to back. They vary in height depending on position.
  10. Point taken................but, I haven't repaired it yet. The pics are just after lifting the body off. A previous owner had done some work and painted it, it then stood for years. I've now got it stripped to chassis only............ ready for welding. I will post some after pics when the works done...................... WHEN.
  11. Hi Kede, Fantasic photos of a great rebuild. Excellent work.
  12. Thank-you guys, I may well leave it there then when I do my chassis repairs. With regards the bracket that goes on the steering drag link, have any of you got a pic of one? cheers --- Andy ---
  13. Yes buddy thats the one. My posts are been moderated so a delay is evident. --- ANDY ---
