  1. What colours are the wires that go to/from the alternator? , ie:; ignition feed, battery charge, and one more i believe though not sure what or where it goes,

The vehicle is a 1989 range rover diesel,

  2. Hi was in Shadoxhurst Kent last night trying out some lanes down there and most had upright sleepers at one or other end. Most of them my range rover fitted through except one which was only big enough for a pug 205 with its mirrors off. Is this to stop fly tippers or am I in the wrong for going through.

Hi, The lanes in shadoxhurst are used requrley by fly tippers, the sleepers are they to try and stop them, but still allowing 4x4`s through, although it seems you found that one lane has them to close together.

You are not in the wrong as long as they havent got a Traffic regulation order on them (TRO).

The lanes are listed as a byway, then its ok,

The lanes in the Crundale area of Kent do have a temporary TRO for the winter period.

  3. The Range rover is a classic with a 3.5 nissan diesel fitted, the engine was fitted by a previous owner, I am having problems with the thermostat ( which is currently removed from the range rover so this could be the problem, (thankyou paintman for that advice) I have a kenlowe fitted to try and stop over cooling from the old viscous fan.

I have also blocked most of the air suppply through the front radiator vent to try and get the engine to warm up more quickly.

I have installed a new radiator this week, it takes about 15 miles to get the heat coming through the matrix, the heater feed pipes are quite warm after 15 miles, willl flush out matrix this weekend, and will keep you posted with the solution.

    Cheers everyone for your advice.

    Bernie

  4. Is it important to have the water flow through the matrix in the right order, iam going under the impression that the heater pipes on the range rover might be round the wrong way as i get hardly any heat inside the interior of the vehicle.

If this is the case, is the upper matrix inlet on a range rover the inlet and the lower one a outlet?

ie am talking about the pipe connections against the bulkhead under the bonnet.

Sorry if you are still confused. Ive nearly confused myself!

  5. I want to lift my range rover, has anyone used the 2 inch spacers that you can buy on e-flog!!! iam not to worried about the extra articulation as i dont do loads off road, but i do wish the vehicle to be higher, has anyone used these and are they worth it,

  6. I have a 1989 Range rover with a 5 speed manuel gearbox, it has high and low ratio only, no Difflock, I require a new front prop, I have been told i need a viscous prop but the prop that was on the vehicle is a standard style prop, Have i been misinformed?

  7. £185 sounds good from Adrian Flux, iam paying £285 for TPFT on a 1989 Range rover fitted with a 3.3 Nissan Diesel, and thats with Adrian Flux as well, Having the Nissan engine in it bumped the price up, the original estimate with standard engine (2.5D)was around £200.

  8. I knew that would get your attention.

My 1989 Range rover 2.5D has a speedo transducer fitted to the inside left chassis rail, it only has a short speedo cable going to it from the gearbox and two wires coming out of it, which disappear into the wireing loom, is this an electronic one, It has a large threaded cover that screws over one end of it where another cable could fit, my local Landrover shop in medway Kent seem to think that it should have another cable coming from it, The speedo works occassionly. I have taken it off to try and find out why it does`nt register the speed all the time.

When i put a electric drill onto gearbox cable end, the speedo did not register, so i think it may be a transducer fault, what do you think?

  9. After having series landrovers over the years, i`am now on my second range rover and love the comfort when off roading, where else can you get a lot of comfort and quality for little money, shop around and dont rush in to buying one, the decent rust free classics are out there.

I paid £900 for a 1989 diesel classic with very little rust on it, inner wings faultless, rear floor surface rust, top tail gate okish,

  10. I have a 1989 Range rover, that has a speedo that malfunctions occasionally, but when i looked for the cable at back of clocks it`s not there, are they electronic, or am i not looking in the right area, ive not looked at gearbox end yet.
