Hi I'm about to fit a new swivel ball to my 1995 Disco 300 Tdi with ABS is there anyway of setting the preload on the top pin without the use of the special tool LRT-57-024 torque test apaptor
-
Well that's strange it's come out upside down
-
-
No I hadn't tried the tin foil trick but have since tried it with no difference

I have a 1995 Disco 1 with the 2 button remote fobs but one of the fobs has stopped working new battery fitted but did not resolve the problem is it possible to program another fb from a Rover 200 to work on my Disco. I'm sure I've read it somewhere that this can be done but cannot find any posts referring to this I've also read in the handbook about a code using the door key in the lock & turning the key so many turns to the left & so many turns to the right to over ride the immobiliser but sadly I don't have the code fro this as it's an old vehicle any info regarding this method has been long lost
Any help or advice much appreciated

As the trailer dash indicator works on resistance to give u the indication of the additional indicator bulb function u could have either Iffy bulbs, bulb holders, or wiring or the relay holder or perhaps the relay, but as u have replace that without any change it won't be that.
So there's a few bits to look at, if u have the time do one bit at a time then test, which will help find the exact point of issue.
Cheers for that Teabag guess it's possibly could be a long process or as long as it takes to find the problem I hate tracing wiring problems as it can take so many short cuts to earth etc oh well I get four rest days from work every four days so I guess I know what I'm doing on my next days off LOL
-
Teabag; I have a problem with my trailer indicators in so much as the indicators on the trailer/caravan work but the trailer warning light on the dash doesn't always flash it flashes about 6 times then stops flashing but the trailer indicators are still working it's the same with a trailer board plugged in I've replaced the socket on my Disco as well as the plug on the caravan I've also fitted a new flasher unit which cured the problem for a while plus I've changed bulbs on the caravan & the disco
Any ideas

Is it possible or has anyone managed to fit a 300Tdi dash into a 200Tdi
-
I have spent ages going through the forums to find a solution but not found anything related to my problem which is the warning light for the diff lock on my 300TDi Discovery does not work I have removed the centre console & the gear linkage cover plate & it would appear all is working the linkage does not seem to be seized up as it all moves when the lever is operated but on checking for power to the switch it's dead is the switch fed from the bulb & could it just be a blown dash bulb looking at the Haynes book of myths & legends it would appear the black with blue tracer wire at the switch, should be live with the ignition on & the black wire is earth, but there is no feed
Has anyone else had this problem or has my Disco thrown me another curve ball
Thanks in advance

Hi finnarne no standard bulbs on Disco & trailer
-
Yes all the bulbs flash in unison & yes I have changed or tried another new flasher unit although mine is black not red fitted in the fuse box behind the dash, between the drivers door & steering column.
Looks like I'll have to check the plug behind the right rear light unit ( Oh & Teabag luckily I don't have the boot seats )
-
Yeah checked resistance too, socket is brand new but wired into old loom so it would still plug into the car loom behind right hand rear light maybe I should splice it straight into the loom that's about the only thing I haven't tried. Maybe there is too much resistance in the plugs that join into the main loom not checked that as yet
-
Hi teabag I've checked the wattage of all bulbs on car & caravan & changed a few of them that had slight corrosion on them but even if I plug in another trailer or trailer board it's still the same the warning light just gives one flash which makes me think it's soon the Disco that isn't quite right
-
Hi All On my 'N' Reg Disco 1 I am having problems with the indicators when I am towing, the trailer warning light on the dash does not flash as it should when the trailer is plugged into the towing socket the warning light just gives one flash as it would without trailer attached I have tried another 'new' flasher unit, the unit says it is for 8x21watt + 2x5watt bulbs, I have checked all earths on the caravan & on the Disco with no luck, the towing socket is wired into the loom behind the right rear tail light on via the factory loom I should say the Disco has twin 7 pin sockets fitted as does our caravan, not the new 13 pin type, so as I know the caravan indicators are working and to comply with the law & MOT requirements I have fitted one of those annoying little buzzers & it's doing my head in despite muting it with sponge & duct tape LOL
Has anyone else come across this problem & found a cure
Many thanks Jim
-
Hi Nigelw it's a factory fitted one but I think we've found the problem now (hopefully) after much digging and investigation we found that the 4 fusible links in the loom from the battery to the inside of the car along the drivers side inner wing were very corroded so much so that they fell apart as the loom covering was removed so it now has an extra fuse box fitted with 4 x 10 amp fuses fitted and it seems to have cured the problem only time will tell

Hi all my son has a 1993 200 Tdi Disco which since off roading has some issues, when trying to start, the alarm kicks in & the starter wont turn over, the hazard lights flash & the horn sounds.
We have changed the alarm/central locking modual that was buzzing but the faults are still there
Any ideas guys or know of a link to help me sort this out
Many thanks in advance

Hi al this is probably out there some where but the search mode does not seem to find it
What engine oil does everyone use in their 300 Tdi Disco Multigrade/Mineral or Semi/Full Synthetic & 10w/40 or 15w/40
-
Cheers Mike unless it was a double pass on the early V8 engines I don't know not been into Disco's that long was always into Fords originally
Jim
-
Cheers guy's. The guy in the motor factors said the double pass is no longer available anyway.
Just had a look & the top hose is passengers side and bottom hose is on the opposite sides of the rad so guess that's a single pass rad then where as my 300Tdi the hoses are both on the passengers side making it a double pass rad have I got that right
-
Hi my son is trying to purchase a radiator for his 200Tdi Disco & the motor factors need to know if a single or double pass anyone any idea what this means ????
