Is it possible to change the regulator / diode pack on a 300 TDi alternator
-
Well I can confirm that "Captain Tolleys creeping crack sealer" does exactly what it says on the bottle. It's stopped the water getting into my Disco

What about the fuse box inside the vehicle below the steering column must be a feed in there for the headlights

Sorry not been for an MOT as yet I had a heart attack while fitting the boot floor so still in recover mode LOL it probably wont get any more attention now till after Xmas, unfortunatly SWMBO has put a ban on me doing anymore till next year now

Well mine is bolted in & the MOT tester was happy with it I checked with him first & he said it would be fine so this is mine
not been for the MOT yet so hope the tester don't change his mind when it goes in fo the test
-
Nice work there Jim, looks very good, not wanting to pick but it looks like you bolted the rear floor down? Just hope lady luck is with you at MOT, I had a previous Disco and the MOT tester did pass her but he also made the comment "the rear floors were spot welded into the Discovery, a replacement should not be fixed by any other means", just meant I had to take it home rather pee'd off as it originally came home with 6 months test left on it when we got it, and then set about welding it along its edged where it meets the rest of the shell, ho hum.
Well I have spoken to my MOT tester & he says that the floor is not structural as the Disco has a seperate chassis the only bits of the shell he is interested in is the seat mounts & the seat belt mounts so I guess I wil find out when it comes to the time for the test LOL but thanks for your comments

Hi Coachman did you do the work yourself in the end or did you let someone else do it for you I hope you still have the Disco I bought one back in June this year & it had a few problems with rust but it's all done now see here http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v63/jimday/Disco%20Photos%201/ the new boot floor was the last bit to go in but caused me a few problems, the biggest one being I had a heart attack just as I finished it. I still need to sort out a few bits like the sagging headlining & a few other ods & ends then it's MOT time

Thanks 'Teabag' I will get some ordered up & see what happens have you tried it yourself or not.
It's available in 60ml @£5.90 or 250ml @ £12.50 think I will go for the larger one as my son has a leaky sunroof on his Rover 200 so hopefully it will cure that also

Hi DrRob both Alpine windows are dry & it only has a sunroof at the front (non factory) the car is jacked up at the rear & on axle stands at the moment so water can not run up hill if the sunroof was letting in water. The water is definately coming out of the bottom of the box section above the windows.

As can be seen from the photo I have water leaking into both the rear corners of my Disco it is coming out of the box section above the rear quarter windows. Has anyone else had this problem if so how did you cure it.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Ron. Thanks for the offer but should hopefully have one here early next week from disc-al on here I've known him for a while from the days we were both into Ford Sierra's

I would say yes it quite possible that the water is coming in throught the split door rubber it could also be comin in through the door itself if the door trim has ever been removed & the pastic membrain puctured or torn & not replaced or repaired properly then rain water can penertrate between the door & the door trim letting water run straight onto the carpewt over the top of the door rubber

Just so you can see what I'm up against this is the state of the Disco, although as you can see a lot of the rust is now cut out & welding in new bits has started http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v63/jimday/Disco%20Photos%201/

As mmgemini has already said sounds like a leak in or around the servo have you checked the hose from the servo to the engine
I have a problem on the Disco1 300TDi I have just bought but on mine the brake pedal is rock hard like having a brick for a brake pedal on mine the vacuum pump is shot & I'm waiting for a second hand pump to arrive to hopefully cure my problem

Hi all I'm Jim & have just bought myself a bargin a 1995 Disco 300 TDi in need of lots of TLC so I may well be picking your brains for information to sort it out the biggest problem is tin worm plus a worn out brake servo vacuum pump, but the pump is soon to be delivered courtesy of disc_al on here & the welding is under way.So please be gentle with me .
