  1. I think that's a bit unfair. I like to share what I do, I seem to get good feedback in the main about it and I always interact and answer questions about the film, location and cars. I don't just drop on a film and say nothing else. In fact on a number of those forums you've mentioned I have engaged far more if there is something I can usefully add to. Just so happens I haven't really on this forum. But if we talk about promotion, I see my videos are well viewed on this forum, which is really nice and I enjoy the kudos of that. It also adds value to the forum does it not? It promotes you by appearing high in all the search engine rankings. I'd like to think its a mutually beneficial thing?
  2. Is it a bad thing then? I'll bet I contribute more to each of those forums than a lot of people who just sign up and lurk! I certainly don't hide my ID on any of them so it's clear who I am.
  3. I haven't checked all the one's you've listed but its 23 UK based clubs and 7 American one's. The main UK based one I spend most of my time with is Lowrangers. I think they are in Land Rover Monthly's May editions. Its amazing how many there are in the UK and I bet I've only found a few of them!
  4. I'm happy to share the facts, especially when I've been criticized for presenting a picture people don't like!
  5. Interesting to teview this a few months on and see the number of positive comments from horse riders on the video!
  6. We recently put together a laning day around the Oldham & Holmfirth area geared to making a film and taking some pictures to feature in a Land Rover Monthly article. The article is supposed to be about the Bendifroot Production Green Laning Films and the lanes on our doorstep. The weather wasn't very kind to us on the day but we managed to get some decent pictures and have a good laugh along the way. The cameramen who were along with us might disagree though! http://youtu.be/Pbc_WgP22Gk
  7. We were supposed to be taking a press car from Land Rover Monthly out at the weekend but they had to cancel at the last minute. As you can imagine, I was pretty excited about having them along and I had made sure 2 of my Land Rover driving mates who were photographers, were out with us. Well it seemed a shame to waste the day and having 2 guys along who know what they are doing, compared to my usual happy snaps made quite a difference to the end result picture wise. I thought these were brilliant. http://youtu.be/trkzXZpW_OE
  8. We had been planning a trip into the Lakes since before Xmas so even with the bad weather we decided to give it a go. It wasn't ideal filming weather and I had to throw quite a lot of footage away. It was interesting because of the mix of vehicles. All Land Rovers but with my newer TDCi 110, a 300TDi 90 and then a nice D3, it made for some interesting comparisons. The D3 was running road tyres and other than having to take a careful line through the rocks and its electronics scrabbling for traction here and there, it coped admirably! Just as an aside, a few people (quite a lot really) have said my films get spoilt by the cheesy license free music I use (Porn Styley even). So I had a go at creating my own for this film. Any opinions from people who have seen my earlier stuff would be appreciated?
  9. This is just a quick comedy short we put together recently whilst out filming a Roger the Rambler 2 parody film. Just to point out, it is an ad lib attempt at humor and is not making any kind of serious point! WARNING – If you didn't like my horse focused film I made last year you will hate this one, so. please don’t watch!
  10. To be honest when the horse stuff blew up in my face I thought they would be all over one of my other video's that was specifically design to get their backs up!
  11. Exactly my experience. As I've said, I rarely go to the Peaks now. Its a great shame and there does seem a great deal of intolerance towards 4x4 drivers and trail bikes. I'd be OK (not dead happy) with some council implemented rules like restricted numbers each weekend or whatever but nope, it has to be an all out ban!
  12. That is unfortunately the reality of the Peaks. The walkers and ramblers are making all kinds of claims and in response...........well we are just being nice. I actually have far less of an issue with the horse riders but I thought this showed how much care we do take!.
  13. As I've tried to say, and the YouTube video makes very clear, its a little tongue in cheek but not a big attack on the horses. Just trying to present the other side for a change! How we tried our best and how their approach appeared to us!
  14. I see where your coming from but you'd never be moving in the Peaks if you did that!
  15. Its to do with the propaganda of the Peaks groups who make out in the press all 4x4's are the devil. In the Peaks it's particular bad. I didn't say outrage and it might not come across fully in the video but the rider tuts and asks her friend how many of us are there. You know, in that tone your Mrs uses when she's accusing you of something! We are on a straight road with a few for 500 yards. Clearly it's just us. My brother is driving, who is a portly chaps. You need to turn the volume up to hear what she says to him as we pass! The video isn't a criticism of the riders exactly, more making a tongue in cheek point that we do show appropriate respect. Interestingly I've had some horsey people now post comments on the video saying thanks for posting and the riders were rude not being pleasant. She things it may discourage us being as accommodating in future!
  16. After driving in the Peaks the other weekend and getting the usual abuse from walkers and horse riders I had some footage of a couple of riders I thought I’d share. I was personally irritated by the attitudes of the other lane users in comparison to our own so I made this because I thought it was about time I showed the other side of the coin. I am not suggesting these riders should not be on the lane! An undesired effect however was a torrent of hassle from horsey type people but also to my surprise other Land Rover owners who seem to think me showing this is wrong and that I handled the situation incorrectly. I’d just be interested in other people’s opinions? All opinions welcome even if you do think I did something wrong. Always happy to learn! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXgBlpDekTM
  17. Yeah we only call it that because its a Land Rover and the driver is strange. The fact its part RRC and part DISCO is incidental.
  18. lol. The risk assessment form alone must have taken a day to complete!!
  19. lol. I'll give you almost all of those That tree was very feeble! Would have made a good you've been framed clip if I had managed to pull it over! Hooking the cable back on itself is particularly embarrassing now looking back on it!
  20. You might have seen my recent film of the DISCO 1 turning over in Bala forest and I did get a few comments about winching techniques and safety. Some valid points about the numpties milling around too close to the action but I personally thought we did a good job. Obviously while it’s in that position all the fluids are running either out or into places you don’t want them and we got that back on 4 wheels in under 7 minutes. Considering the ditch it was in that’s not bad. Anyway, I found a video from the first time I ever winched at a pay & play site in Wigan. Christmas trivia quiz. Spot the number of winching no, no’s. Fairly embarrassing watching it back but you live and learn. The winching bit starts at 3.16.
  21. lol. Well it was secret in that I had never done it before and the bloke that told me said it was a secret.
  22. Dry day, no leaf litter no doubt. MT's aren't the best choice for slippery rock climbs but then they did me proud on everything else that weekend and my winch got me past that OK
  23. I’m going back to Bala at the end of this month to a route where I guess you could say my off roading and green laning life began. It’s billed as an extreme adventure drive but basically is a guided laning trip through endless private forestry and as it’s a logging forest and machines run through it during the week, the terrain is incredible and ever changing. It’s quite extreme in places and always a lot of fun. Anyone been here or fancy trying it on the 24th? I’ll be making a film of the day as usual so a chance to get some new faces and vehicles on camera! Here’s a short film from the last time I was there but I have made a few over the years. http://youtu.be/WhgeUGbVJrA
  24. So I brilliant ending to a sad and sorry saga. I had no idea my little videos were so widely viewed!
