  1. Any help regard a P warning light that keeps flashing on and off. I tried disconecting the cap of the master cylinder and I don't have a parking handbrake switch on this 1985 90 Def 2.5 N/A diesel. Pleeeeese help

  3. Your right just checked not senor cable on pad on my 1985 2.5 diesel defender, I do have same problem I disconected master cylinder cables but didn't make any difference. The light comes on and flashes intermidiate and after a drive for a few miles goes out again but sometime comes on again. checked brake fluid but level ok and don't have a handbrake switch on this model either maybe the cable is earthing some where. any suggestion. Cheers
  4. Sorry what is PDWA I'm a novice, i think maybe your right I thought the pads had a senor cable on a set I was ordering from Paddocks
  5. Thanks Steveb The green wire you said is for themostat is already connected to the top of engine as in pic. Is it possible it is to give both options and is an extra cable
  6. hi can anybody help with stray cables in picture one is in same loom as alternator cables around injectors and others are beside master cylinder couple which seam to be cut cheers

Thanks for your help I have checked and it looks like i have two brown cables I think about 4/6sqm from terminal to solinoid and also two going towards bulkhead somewhere were battery cable comes in from under seat.if i get one 16sqm cable do i run this from the terminal to solinoid and solinoid to battery all in 16sqm cable instead of the two smallier cables thanks again
  8. hi when you say upgrade wiring what do you mean . Do I change it to a heaviery gauge and from where to where just the two brown wires
  9. Thanks for info It is a 2.5 N/A 1985 defender at the momment it is a spade conection two brown and one yellow/brown charging light I think. What I am going to do is cut and crimp the two brown wires to a ring conector for a pole connection and same for other wire. the loom looks very dodgey around the engine can this be tided up some how, I read i should change brown wires to heavier one. can someone help. p.s. it's just for more lights front and roof,but also just to upgrade thought this would be better than 45amp thanks again
  10. I have an old 2.5 N/A diesel defender and have thought about fitting air con. can it be done and if so how hard would it be and what would be a rough cost guide
  11. Hi My landys the same i thought the P light was my parking brake but was wrong the sensors on the front as my rear brakes have shoes and these have been renewed don't know what side though but you should see the bullet connection when you take the wheel off

Hi My alternator has just packed in and i want to change it to a 70 amp output i have been quoted £40 for a 70amp recon with 1 years warrenty, Can some one tell me how to change conections it is at present a plastic block conection but the new alternator has pole connections . What wire goes were and do i need to change the gauge of cable to the starter and battery. I know this is probely posted some where else can anyone help Cheers
  13. Hi I bought a gas soldering iron from maplin it was great has different attachments with it for shrinking cable sleaves heats up to a good temp for soldering and has a great blow torch attachment cost me about £16 and well worth the money cheers
