Thanks again everyone.
Unfortunately due to my living arrangements I don't actually have access to a landline and my phone doesn't get signal :/
My dad is still dealing with admiral atm as this is a similar situation as when I fitted a light bar, thy said my policy was void and couldn't be covered etc. So we filed a formal complaint and amazingle could be covered?
I doubt seats is an issue as its a 2 seat hard top.
Everything you guys say is being passed on for my dad to look into for me
Cheers

Thanks guys, is there anyway of telling what box is in by the year of vehicle?
Also I'll be fitting the transfer box from the discovery as well.
I have the early type of lt77. If the the box I buy is the 56a and fit it along with the 1.2 transfer box that will give the same gearing as as an lt77s fitted with the 1.2 transfer box? Or am I way off the mark?
Thanks

Cheers everyone, keel the options coming in for me please.
Just a question, does anyone think I'm being stupid hoping for insurance with a different engine from standard at my age?
Cheers

Yeah my age is the problem, I would have went with Adrian flux for my first year but they quoted nearly £3500 where as admiral multicar got me insured for £1200.
However my slave cylinder giving our in a car park and shunting my 90 into the car behind me just before my renewal last year hasn't really helped things.
Going to try adrian flux tomorrow and see what they say this time round.

Thanks tac, does that put the box so that the gear levers come through in the lt77 position?
Sorry for being a pain

I was planning on pitting it behind a 300tdi mounted forwards, I think more like a factory fitted 300tdi, surely this would put the box in the right position for the gear stick to come out somewhere near right? Am I right in believing I need yo use the disco cross member?

They're awful but where the cheapest by about £2000 when I first looked.
I don't think I am to young, I've had quotes from them but they where more than admiral, I might try them again now. Thanks for that

Thanks tacr2man!!
That was what I'd heard but wasn't aware of using the disco cross member
Will any mods need yo be made yo the transmission tunnel at all?
Thank

Hi guys
Sorry for double posting but my dads been putting ideas I to my head haha
He's got me thinking about putting the r380 from the disco into my 90. Can someone tell me what's involved as I've heard so many different versions I'm starting yo have no idea of what fits with what.

Hi guys
So I've rang my insurance company (admiral) and asked what Tue difference would be if I fitted a 300TDI from a 19j and they've said they can't insure me (18 year old, been driving for nearly two years with one claim)
Do I have any sort of leg to stand on to argue with them? Eg only getting changed because the original engine is tired and starting to fail?
If that line fails then can you reccomend anyone else who will give a reasonable quote?
Cheers

Thanks for all the advice, its all taken on board ready for the swap.
I'm half tempted to try and put the disco r380 in as well. Any ideas on what's involved in that?

Cheers for that harry.
I was looking at just buying the full kit from Steve Parker but what you've said about the oil cooler hose has just got me wandering about them. Do you think that could be an issue with all of his parts?
I'm sure that as this progresses I'll have questions to ask you.

Hi guys
I know this has been covered millions of times but I'm doing the above conversion to a 1989 19j.
What parts will I need in terms of pipework etc? I've decided to buy proper mounts from sonewhere online.
Anything else I'm missing?
Cheers

On my 19j the air filter is regularly covered in oil by something but I'm sort of going on the principle that its running fine atm so I'm not going to start digging around and possibly upsetting it until something breaks haha

Cheers western
I'll let you know what happens

Yeah my old stat used to sit roughly vertical when it was working. now it sits just in between the red and white with the 88c thermostat in.
I'll be in the garage this week to try and get this sorted out.
Cheers
Jamie

Thanks for that
The thermostat the garage gave me was 88c so I'm guessing 200tdi which would explain why it didn't work in my engine?
I'll give him the part number to get this sorted.
Cheers

Update...
After changing the thermostat and the guage deciding to just sit inbetween the red and white sections I decided yo remove the thermostat all together yo see if KT was maybe the temp sender at fault and now the guage just sits barely into the bottom of the white which would signal to me a dodge thermostat?
So does anyone have the part number for the correct part as the garage I dealt with is adamant they gave me the right part even though its different from the one I took out originally.
Thanks

Yeah I know all this haha... The lads I work with can't understand why I put IP with the rubbish mpg, slow, noisy etc etc
But I love it plus I'm the only one whoanaged to drive their own car up the drive when the snow arrived lol

So how much of a difference is the locker making? HahaI had a choice. A route canal and implant or an Ashcroft locker. It was obviously a complete no brainer! Lol
-
As above... Sitting bored is far to expensive with eBay and the amount of stuff you can bolt on to defenders lol
Jamie

Well thermostat changed and no difference so far however the old thermostat was stuck when tested...
What would be your next place to look?
Cheers

Well after my thermostat turning up after 5 months of this happening on every trip it didn't over heat on the run down to the garage yesterday or on the run to Dundee today... Anyone want to buy a landrover? Lol
