  1. 97 defender 300tdi . I'm having troubles starting . Cranks fine . Just changed the fuel and air filter and glow plugs . Won't start unless I press the accelerator peddle while cranking . Starts fine after being driven for a while .
  2. Thanks for the reply . It ended up finding a jumper between the permenant (purple) and light switch supply (green) that the previous owner put in that back fed power to the ignition .
  3. I have a different situation and I hope someone can help . I replaced a faulty hazard switch . Everything works again but now I can't turn the ignition off . I can take the key right out and the truck stays running . Untill I disconnect the new switch .
  4. Does anyone know why I can't kill the engine without unplugging the new hazard switch I installed ? I plugged the old switch back in and I can turn the truck on and off ( without the use of hazards ) .
  5. Switch broke . Installed a new switch . Now truck won't turn off unless I unplug the switch ?
  6. Ah evolution 1 by diff lock ? Yea no one seems to sell mtf94 near me . Has anyone tryed the redline ?
  7. I have read a out a million forms about what gear oil to use and everyone says something different . Does anyone use redline 75w-80 ? Or anything comparable . Mtf 94 was also recommended but It seems hard to find and some are saying its to thick .
  8. Do you know the best way to remove the alarm immobiliser ? It has never worked . The sensor is missing and I find the unit to be unpredictable . Or possibly other advice ?

  10. Replacing my headliner and removing the courtesy light wiring and I noticed 2 connectors that are not attached to anything . Wires are brown/black and white/black . Can I remove these ? 97 300 tdi
  11. I was driving down the road when I could no longer press in the clutch lever . the lever seems really jammed . an lost ability to use the clutch . I figure its the master cylinder or the slave cylinder but there was no trace of leaking oil . Any thoughts?

  13. So I started my 97 110 300tdi and a red warning light with a picture of a vehicle with a key inside came on . I'm certain it is the immobiliser . Everything seems to be working fine as usual . Why is it on all of a sudden ? The remote does not seem to effect it even with a new battery .
  14. I was looking at a guys 97 300 tdi (same as mine ) and noticed his speedo goes to 200 km / h and mine only goes to 140 . Is his aftermarket ? If so why ? Does he have Overdrive or what ?
  15. 97 300tdi, do the 110 front brake pads differ from the 90 ?
  16. Left my lights on . Went to jump it and put the cables on all poles . All I get is clicking . Did I mess something else up ?
  17. Thanks for the help I noticed the track rod is bent . I'll now have to track a new one down if heating and straightening is out of the question .
  18. Hello all , I am new to 4x4ing and just recently purchased a defender 110 1997 300tdi . I took it out 4x4 for the first time ( nothing extensive) and it will now only drive straight when the steering wheel is turned to the right 45-90 degrees . I also noticed the alignment is toed out. Before i look deep into the manual i figured i would see if anyone could give me a bit of direction. Drag link adjustment ? centralising steering box ?
