  1. Thanks guys. Bluespanner, what's the best way to check if it is the diode behind the dash and how do I change it?
  2. About 50% of the time, when I turn off my ignition, the engine does not shut off. I've noticed that if I turn it off VERY slowly, almost half-way, it will sluggishly turn off. But if I just turn the key to off, the engine stays on. I can even take the key out and he keeps running! Is this common? What do I do??
  3. My paint is generally in good shape, except for a few spots. Is this a sign of rust that I need to attack? Or just old paint that is peeling after a dent or crack (and 25 years!)? 1. The worst is in the first photo below... a small area on the left side toward the rear, which has torn off & now shows white underneath and the surrounding paint is beginning to peel as well (I used a power washer to clean my Defender after some mud play this weekend and it may have torn it/loosened it even more). What can I do a) to stop it from spreading and b) cosmetically? 2. The bottoms of both side doors are bubbling at the bottom - in the next photo. Is there any way to treat this without turning the green into a mess?? 3. Last photo - It looks like this spot had the same problem in the front and the previous owner did a patch up job years ago. Anything ideas to improve this as well? Thanks for your help guys!
  4. Thanks guys - great ideas - i will check out different options and let you know how it turns out!
  5. First, let me say that after owning a Discovery for ten years, I finally purchased my first Defender! Since which I've been reading and reading and reading posts by all of you across dozens of topics and questions and have found more than enough answers every time - without having to post any questions of my own. There is a treasure trove of info on here. Thank you! Now, for my first question, because I can't find anything like it on here: When I purchased my Defender, the very back inside of the dashboard had been cut out to expose the wires behind the dash. I believe this was done to connect a CB, which I do not need. The wires look awful exposed in the dash. I've attached some photos here. What is the best way to cover this?? I've looked through everything on here and can't find a suitable alternative. Obviously I don't want to buy a new dash - and want something that looks smart, not too DIY. Any ideas out there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, Ryan Defender 90 TD (1988)
