  1. No smoke at all, had thought about the pump, but this is a real loud knock!
  2. Oil level is fine and no oil light showing! Serviced about 2000 miles ago. Very low milage Jap import.
  3. Hi all, this is my first post on the disco forum and is on behalf of my best mate. On start up he has a loud knocking noise that sounds like the big ends are going but it dissapears within a minute or so! Any ideas??
  4. They look very nice but the MOT guy would crucify me!! Shame really as I have a set of new 33's sat out in my garage.
  5. Thanks Deano, from that picture I can see that a 235 is as wide as I would get in there with modulars. Now just got to decide on which tyre!!!!
  6. Have you got a suspension or body lift or is that stock ride height? Do they stick out of the arches at all?
  7. My rangey will probably never see any dirt so this is all just for looks. I am leaning towards silver 16" modulars but am concerned that a 265 tyre will stick out the arch too much and will cause a problem come MOT time. I definately don't want to fit arch flares at this time and don't want to waste a load of money trying different combos so all your collective input is most useful. From what you said Chris it sounds like my best bet will be 235/85r16's.
  8. So if I wanted a 265/75r16 I would have to fit arch extensions? Or is that specific to the Mach 5 offset? This is such a mine field!!! Need more piccies!!!!
  9. When you say RR alloys, do you mean the 3 spoke type? Are there many differnces in offset among the different Defender/Disco/RR wheels available? I basically want as big and fat a setup as can be allowed within the LAW if you know what I mean!!
  10. Hi guys, am looking into which size wheel/tyre combo would be best for my 2 door RRC. I would prefer not to have to cut the arches or put flares on but will be lifting it about 2". At the moment it is running 15" wheels with 235/70r15 tyres which will look a bit daft when it is lifted!! Any thoughts and or piccies of yours would be greatly appreciated as I have not got a clue!!
  11. I think if you look on e-bay at the moment there is a dark blue 2 door going real cheap with a set of those on it!
  12. They are totally different I am afraid!
  13. Will, I have one of my wings off at the moment if you wanna pop down and have a look in the next couple of days.
  14. That does not look like the bracket I have holding the bottom of my wings on!!
  15. I think your seats are the same as the ones in my 86'. If they are there were two bolts at the front track that I removed then the seat slid right off. It does have to be dead level or will not go easily!
  16. Not sure about spring diameters but the rears are definately longer by apparently 2".
  17. Thanks, thats good to know. I was starting to worry as mine is a Saudi import.
  18. Is it still worth getting new cranked rear arms and front castor correction arms, or is that a little OTT for a 2" lift??
  19. That sounds good. Are your fabbed spacers just a piece of 2" heavy guage box section?
  20. Hi guys, have just noticed that the floor layout of my rangy is different from most others I have seen! Where the base of the rear seat fits mine slopes forward at 45 degrees from the boot level to the passenger floor level, most I have now seen go straight down! Does any of this make sense???
  21. That sounds excellent. Any chance you could tell me where I could get these things and or part/model numbers. Why only fit the spacers under the rears? Will it not look like a hotrod with the arse sticking up??!! I would want it to sit straight and level. Would love 31" tyres on my existing wheels but they would stick out too much and I don't want to fit arch extensions. So was thinking of going to 16" wheels with 235/85 tyres.
  22. The eighties look is just what I am after!! It is an 86' after all!! Will have to pop out and get some white socks now!!
