  1. Tim, Thanks for your reply. The earth on the battery is tight and is a good earth. The downpipe will be coming off in the morning to check the connections to the solenoid, i prefer easier access rather than struggling. Can anyone confirm that the starter from a 300 tdi will fit and have a better cranking speed? I've read this elsewhere and just incase my starter is at fault this seems like a good idea. 2. Hello, as you may be able to tell I'm new here. I purchased a Landy 90 2.5TD at the weekend. All was well and good, got it home and then came to start it again and it wouldn't. The solenoid sounds as though its engaging but the starter won't spin. The battery is in good condition and i have also tried putting a jump starter on it just to double check. I put a jump lead from the battery negative to the engine to rule out a bad earth on the battery and it still wouldn't fire. I've had a poke around and the starter looks like a pain in the backside to get to, can anyone help me with ideas/advice of where to start looking for causes now? I need to get to the solenoid to check the wiring but whats the best way to gain access? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Mick
