Thank you! I shall look into them.

Hello again, Does anyone know of a quality secure, safe and 'comfortable' attachment to a 110 double cab (2002) that could transport dogs etc. Any suggestions/advice appreciated. Thank you.

1986 ex mod 90 lights/chequer plating
scoaf replied to scoaf's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
I am pretty sure the fittings are moulded into the bonnet unfortunately. They are rather unsightly! -
Hi everyone. Once again I require some expert advice. I have a 1986 ex mod 90. I'm in the process of 'doing it up' but have issues with my bonnet. I have remounted spare wheel to inside bulkhead and I am left with the fitting on the bonnet. I want chequer plating across the whole bonnet. Would it be easier to buy a new bonnet or cut them off? Also, how difficult is it for an idiot (me) to fit and wire up some roof lights? Is that a professional job? Thanks for any suggestions!

Bottled it! Sticking with F2 for wife comfort and 86 90 for now. Bloody children ruining plans! ???
-
Hahaha! I may just need that. I will keep you informed...... Hopefully ? but probably ????????????? and eventually ??????
-
Ah the reasoning of wives! That is an entirely different thread! I think I'm going for it without approval and expect an initial nuclear fallout and then slow realisation of how awesome 90s are! Cheers everyone!

Great response, cheers bm. Music to my ears! Do you have kids/dogs though. The one I'm hopefully getting has a safari roof rack and ladder for extra storage.

I know complete contradiction! 2009 xs is obviously vastly superior! She doesn't have a manual license so she couldn't drive it anyway. But she loves being driven! It's so frustrating as she doesn't understand my reasons for wanting to change!

Thanks mat! I think I get your thoughts. My wife is completely against a 90 sw unfortunately!

Oh and merry Christmas! ??????

Thanks but the discos don't really float my boat. Beautiful cars (3/4) but too expensive to run etc. My wife loves my 1986 90 so she should love a 2009 xs model. I had a freelander 1. It was awful! Sorry. We don't have any children yet. Only dogs. 4 of them. Would a defender hold its value better then? In that case I may get the 90 and then trade up for a 110 when children are imminent. Thanks for advice everyone.

Thanks for all the replies. Really appreciated. Looks like I will have to stick with what I have and replan. Deposit lost but better that than losing a wife! (In most cases anyway...???)

Hello everyone, I need some advice. I have just put a deposit on a 2009 90 SW XS in part ex for my F2 2010 HSE. I also have a 1986 90 ex mod which I plan to sell. My reasons were 1. Running 2 cars too expensive. 2. Freelander 2 depreciation is more than SW 3. Combination of the 2 vehicles. 4. Versatility for 4 dogs. 5. Safari roof rack for extra storage. Anyway my wife hit the roof! No suitable etcetera I was hoping for advice as to if it is a ridiculous move. Could I swap out cubby box for 3rd seat that is baby/child friendly? Any advice would be appreciated. 110 are too big for me btw!

Great. Thanks for all the advice. First challenge will be to make sure it can handle normal roads!!!

Thanks steveb! I will put it through its paces and find any faults. The main reason I have it is to green lane etc but these seem to be in decline. Does anyone know of a site/resource which marks out CLEARLY where they are and if you are legally allowed on them whilst respecting the country code obviously.

Hahaha! Well hopfully this one had a relatively dry life!
-
Oh dear! Well this one is in excellent condition. It has a good chassis, a TDI discovery conversion in 2001, new brake pads and well looked after. I bit of cosmetic rust and bumps but nothing major. Even the heater works! No frills inside obviously but footwell in good order and all upholstery is perfect. Fortunately I live in Suffolk so there are plenty of landies in this part of the world to get a feel of what's good and what isn't!

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure I will be seeking more once I've got going!

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and am hoping to find it useful. I own a freelander 2 but my real enthusiasm is for the defender range. Consequently I am about to purchase a 1991 ex mod 90. It is in really good condition considering its history but I heard that ex mod are a good choice for a first buy. Any tips on what to do with it regarding improvements etc? Thanks.
