Hi from Athens GREECE. I have done a lot of engine swaps over the years in various BMW's. For instance E30 M3 powered by S62 V8 M5 engine, E36 M3 powered by S54 M3 engine, E46 M3 powered by S85 V10 M5 engine. All of the above work with the stock ECU and not any aftermarket carp. I have somebody in Germany that "fixes" the standard ecu's to work without problems and hesitations. I am thinking of placing an M57TU2D30 engine into my Defender. Those engines are very strong, quite cheap for their power therefore I called my friend for the ecu and he told me no problem. My problem is the gearbox. I talked to Aschroft but there is not a LR gearbox that can handle all this torque (580 N·m). Aschroft suggested to use the BMW manual 6 speed gearbox and to connect it to my LT 230 transfer box.
Who can do the machining work involved? Any ideas?
