  1. My washer pump was broken on my vehicle but finding a replacement was proving more hassle than it was worth since the pump was threaded and all the other appear to be push on so I decided a new bottle wa the answer, so having picked up a bargain at Newbury at the weekend, I am now faced with another problem.

What is the part muber for the loom that connects to these types of pump (mine is the older blade type connection):

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Landrover-defender-windscreen-washer-bottle-double-pump-/290874183267?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b973ce63&nma=true&si=%252Fb0GbMEZWDmSAn4VtQ4ifA2n4KI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557#ht_42wt_1172

Or, where can I buy these types of connctors to fix on to my loom?

    Cheers,

    Rich

    P. S sorry for the ebay link but it was easier than taking and posting a pic.

  2. very significant increase!!! what other enhancements have you made to your truck, I can't believe the viscous fan alone would affect MPG to that extent!!

It already had a K&N airfilter fitted before I swapped to the electric fan but other than that, it was completely standard.

  3. Any loss in power that may result from the lack of air flow through the intercooler is more than made up for by not having to permanently drive the cooling fan.

I removed mine from my TD5 and installed an electric one and it was the best improvement I made to it. The engine was noticeably more responsive and the MPG went from 28 to 32.

  4. i couldnt agree more, or atleast let the victims beat the living **** out of them. :i-m_so_happy:

and also found another recent story! :o

    Last Friday(01/02/13)

2 pikeys and a unit Owner

We're arrested of theft and selling stolen Land Rover parts.

The story starts when this so called unit owner that was located near kals night club

In Ashford Kent was giving these 2 pikeys £500 to nick land rover 90s and bring them back to Ashford..

But the question you may ask yourself is how did they get round the CCTV and avoid police,, well the had a set of q plates made up'they fitted to any 90 the stole, which have them the cover to move any Land Rover about undetected, well it's not unusual to see a q plate Landy is it..

Anyway how did they busted???, Well one night these pikeys nicked a Subaru STI,turbo, and rang this guy who wanted the Landys and said we've got a Subaru turbo, the guy said I don't want that only want Land Rover 90s, well the pikeys said tuff we've nicked it now so your having it.

So the Subaru was taken to Ashford in this unit. But what they didn't no was that the

Car had a tracker fitted to it..

So yes you've guessed it, 1hr later the police turned up, and had all the pikeys and unit occupier under arrest and the investigation began..

It turns out that the 24 Land Rovers that got stolen in the Kent area, 18 of them were found in the Ashford unit, and they only new this because the 18 chassis were stacked up complety stripped on top of each other with there chassis numbers still visible.

So everyone involved got nicked and goods seized for evidence.

but then read that there was a LR theft 6wks ago that was only 8 miles away..

My dads land rover was nicked recently and the police who were investigating it said they arrested a gang of 4 people in the process of nicking a landy. 2 of them were out on bail for nicking a landy!! :o

  5. Perhaps you should research high performance engines like Porsche, Ferrari, Formula 1 etc and see if they use anything special (my son's Porsche 911 doesn't). I may be wrong but I can't believe that a Landrover engine needs this sort of treatment.

A lot of "high performance engines" don't need as much cooling as a Land Rover. They operate a high speeds where you get the air flow to cool them. A lot of ok, some landies operate for long periods at low speed and high revs which is when you really need the cooling.

I'm intrigued by the waterless coolant. The theory certainly makes sense, I’m just not sure it’s worth the extra money. Especially given the number of times I’ve had the radiator off recently.

  6. If you mean a gap between the upper sides and the tub at the door junction then you just need to loosen the tub brakets at the front of the tub, jack it up (the tub that is) gently and it a suitable place, and re-tighten. There is some adjustment for height on the brackets, or there should be.

  7. Hi,

    Yes it's possible.

There were a couple of guys in Land Rover Owner a while back that did it, I think they started with a Disco though, which would be a sensible choice as you are binning sills, the bit that rusts!

The easiest route IMHO would be to open up the outriggers rather than mess too much with the central chassis and drive train. If you made it with a tilt (cabriolet) you'd only have to make the bonnet "good". You could easily* tack on some extensions to the bulkhead et al. You should be on firmer ground with the IVA police too as, if you were canny about it you might not need to touch the chassis.

As for the wheels, you might be able to get away with spacers.

I'm assuming you are only going to add 6" to the width at most (more would be huge) then this should all work. Custom windscreen though!

    Just my tuppence worth.

    Cheers,

    Mike

    *It's all relative

Beat me to it, is that the one where they widened the lightweight?

They widened it so you could get 3 full size recaro style bucket seats across the width.

  8. I'm a bit late in posting this but my internet access has been a bit erratic recently. Details below:

    - Stolen 15th November Overnight

    - Taken from farm near Penistone

    - Defender 90 Hard Top Van

    - Engine TD5

    - Tonga Green

    - YP54EEG

    - Security - Factory fitted alarm and imobiliser. Was also hitched to a large box trailer with hitch lock fitted when taken. This was removed also and the trailer was left behind. Was parked in farm yard which is covered with security lights and CCTV. Police are reviewing the videos.

    - Distinguishing features - factory plastic A-frame and spot lights. Boost alloys.

    - South Yorkshire police are handling this. Don't know crime number at the moment as posting on behalf of my dad who's landy it is

    - Please contact me if spotted 07718 979 921

  9. Little off topic, sorry. But did anyone see Richards Hammonds new series where they discussed the 'spray on waterproofing' developed from a butterfly?

No I'm not making it up. Don't know how long before it becomes mainstream or affordable but that would certainly solve all car waterproofing issues.

  10. Not to put a downer on it, I think it's a good idea in principal but what about if you open it to the max and then cannot open it anymore to make it retract?

Also maybe it's just me but a clicking door would drive me insane. When I'm shooting for example trying to open a dorr quietly is hard enough without it clicking too!
