Does anyone know if the mounts for a 200 tdi are the same as those for a 300 tdi?
Cheers.

Ahh! It's become clearer now, I'm doing a V8 - Isuzu conversion, I had assumed yours was an Isuzu. I think form other reports I'll need to change to a 3.1 manifold to get the most out of the turbo and intercooler combo. I need to start posting pictures I think!
-
Cheers Cieranc,
My vehicle is a V8 so no pre-existing stuff to worry about or compare to hence question as I was a bit in the dark about intercoolers all round. I was thinking of using silicone hoses from begining and didnt want to make a big mistake on pipe sizes. Keeping to one routing size 51mm and simply using step down/up adaptors would make sense.
Did you connect the actuator that opens the small flap valve in the turbo casting to anything? After some advice from another Isuzu conversion vet I junked the big butterfly valve and actuator from the exhaust adaptor casting.

I think I'll go for the twin pass idea, however, what I cant fathom yet is what diameter do I pipe it all up in? is there a standard convention for this? There appear to be a number of different diameters used for various items on the engine going from 32mm on turbo to the large diameter on the air filter.

Cieran,
What size is that twin pass, I think I've been on that blokes shop and thought the twin pass idea would be a neater instalation but I'd been thinking silicone elbows not modding the cooler. Dont have a mate that can weld ally yet. Will be looking at the electric requirements for my Isuzu project this weekend and labeling up the cables.

Have a look on www.mig-welding.co.uk, there are helpful tutorials and an active and helpful forum on there.
That's a good forum, MIG is a bit sensitive to this if you can just get a slight amount of dowhhill on it then go downhill you'll be amazed at how different it is to trying to go uphill - as it were!? - I'm not a proper welder by the way!
If thats not working get some old plate and practice but it does sound like you've tried this already.

Thanks Nigel! You are very generous. i appreciate that.
I will let you know once Brunel gets back to me. No e-mail answer so far.
Regards,
Santiago
The Brunel man is on his hols but is picking up mails when he can, he reccomended a side mount cooler to me not sure if he meant beside the rad at front or side mounted in engine bay away from rad.
-
Was emailed back by a guy from Brunel performance re an intercooler query for my 2.8 Isuzu project, he reccomended looking at a side mounted intercooler. Where would I put this in my land rover engine bay?
Pipework would be shorter so less lag, would there be any advantage in trying to find a twin pass cooler so piopework could be even neater. The previous option considered was a Merc sprinter cooler.

Excellent manual find here;
400 pages worth not read it all yet but might duplex print it at work one day to compare to the other one most people have.

If you were going to build a standard 90 truck cab - all new parts. what engine from above would you put in and why?
If you were going to build a 90 buggy for offroading would you change your first answer?
I have absolutely no need for a Land Rover. but i cant live with out one. so.. i suppose i would only use it
for off roading, mostly in the UK. and prob in pay and play sites. so cant really decide what route to take.
Price is a big issue, so take everything into account.
I've got a 4.6v in 110 (B reg) chassis mot failure with an LPG conversion on. Make me an offer I need the space!
-
Thanks chaps, very sensible looking intercooler, like the rearwards facing ports and price doesnt look to bad even for new.

Fitting an Isuzu soon, have looked at SAAB and Volvo intercoolers does anyone know of any better/more approriate intercoolers that do not cost the earth?
-
Will the EGT drop if a larger bore exgaust is fitted, in that, it gets the hot gases away faster? or is this an erroneous assumption?
-
They look spiffing!
Are the Mondeo units 2 speed or 1? Will need a fan when my Zuzu goes in a viscous unit would be touch remote!
-
Was reading the Bearmach catalogue (got bored with the Bravissimo one) saw a "high efficiency" heater matrix but the text said it was only 20% better but for a fair bit of cash more.
-
Useful feedback! however, for those in their early forties what is the reccomendation?
Wonder what it would sound like with LPG injection...!

Does anyone know if the replacement pipe comes in mild steel or are they all stainless steel?

My V8 110 CSW is going to get an Isuzu soon, I'm considering replacing the centre silencer with a straight through section. Does anyone know if there is one that can be fitted to the old V8 exhaust (if I use that) or to a Steve Parker Isuzu-110 exhaust sytem (came with engine and kit)

The ali bubble wrap stuff is also called Airtec, Screwfix sell it the double version is pretty solid stuff. I did my shed out in it. Might use the left over stuff for the back of the 110.

Roy,
It probably is, however, it would be nice to have some thing that is a similar height to the rear coupling. Our boat trailer has on ocasion dug it's rear in with the tow ball mounted on the bumper. Granted this will drop with anything mounted below the the bumper.
Some measuring next time we do some boat maintenance will be done. I do like the idea of something small and neat - which cannot be said of the DB bracket idea.
-
It's a Greg that is fairly OE, when I had to change some of the original steel pipes at the front I had a quicl look at the flexibles they looked like they were of the same vintage as the then coroded steel pipes. Will get an assistant and look for bulging!
-
Going more along the lines of an easily removable DB type now, butt ugly but very practical. It will however not be doing me any favours in the weight and stowability department.
Plan is to use 2 pins to secure it; one through bumper and one to hold outrigger angle section. Luckily I have most of the parts from an old DB unit, those who have not may find this idea a bit pricey.

I've not done the bearings on this Land Rover yet so a good place to start.
Thanks chaps, I had not considered this, but is pretty obvious now - I'm such a dumbass it scares me!

I have hole, probably not the only one, I also like welding. Is there a repair section for this area?
