  1. There have been some fine suggestions, but nothing like what I was after.

Is there any reason why, I can't use a "Bus Bar" like this

    Bus_bar.jpg

and run it into a conventional 10 way fuse box ?

It looks bootie, but I can't see why it wont work.

Obviously insulation would need to be more than a wrap of insulation tape, but that isn't difficult.  :D

it will, until rot gets at it, four star connection is the max for a safe long life with the connections as fuss:

The ring crimps then sit on each other with no packing washers required, this then means you don't suffer from dissimilar metal corrosion as all the crimps are together.

  2. Only detail to remember is that running a 30A switch at 30A's means you are running it at it's maximum all the time, this will reduce the life of the item, if you can find a data sheet for the item it should break-down what the load-versus-life expectancy is

  3. I tend to use Ward Brooke terminal blocks breaking out to the VWP fusebox:

    WB 1146

twenty terminals, 10 rows by two columns, 8/32 UNC terminals, luvly

Dunno what the option for purchase is though as Ultra Electronics tend to only deal with the industry, you might be able to get a sample if you play your cards right with them

  4. it's not quite a "ringer", the DVLA uses a system of allocating "score points" for sub assemblies within a vehicles construction, points are given for original chassis, brakes, engine, transmission et cetera. As long as you score enough points to sattisfy their criteria then all is well, if you don't then it's SVA time and new registration et cetera

  5. I've got issues, however lets talk about the Land Rover :D I didn't like the ol' Series throttle linkage so I sold that on and brought myself a defender throttle pedal assembly, I've cut a few bits and bent the mounting plate (tread pedal is standard) and got it to follow the contours of a Series foot well.

With it in I put the cable in with a split pin loosely and decided to have a squint in the engine pay to see if all was good, the pedal seems to have the same bell crank ratio as the series parts however my throttle positions are as follows on the CAV:

nuts and bolts falling off position (at tick-over)

    DSCF1415.jpg

lots of black smoke and mopeds over taking you (throttle to the floor)

me question be, is it meant to go all the way to the end stop? <_<

  6. I take it this would be Tidworth in Wiltshire? if so you got all of the green lanes on Salisbury Plain to keep you amused (just stick to them, the MoD Plod will either get to you first or the un-exploded shells will!), or there is the Shires or Solent and District LRC down near Southampton shiresLRC SADLRC

I'm in Amesbury but my 109 is in pieces ;) in the next few months I'll have it together and shall go exploring the plain in me spare time
