  1. I have had a good look through my pile of Land Rover books and found this in the Optional Equipment book , I searched for the pulley ( 530132) online and it’s for a dynamo the other 2 belt pulley ( 574870) is for models with an alternator , so I just need to find out how long 554389 belts are and I’ll be sorted ? Maybe? Angus

  2. Any one ? I have just managed to start a 1961 series 2 “Fire Armour” fire engine that’s been left outside for years  it’s a 109 and has lost most of its fire engine bits and it shredded the fan belts , it’s petrol and has got a military style oil cooler and is 12v positive earth ? The belt that came off is 920 mm on the outside but the dynamo is as far out as it can go , Thanks Angus

  3. Hi all , this has turned up today , I’ve known of it for about 10 years when I tried to buy it to break up as I wanted the bulkhead, it’s been a fire engine at some point but I was told it was an ex Royal Navy vehicle in the past but has no civilian registration. Does any one recognise the maker or have any ideas how to get it registered? Thanks Angus

  4. Hi , Sorry to reopen this post but I've been trying to find a replacement turbo as mine has a small crack, (but nothing like the ones in the previous images ), I wonder if I'm being too cautious and if all 200 tdi turbos are like this and work ok like it ? I'll add an image of mine as a separate post if I can ,  Thanks Angus

  5. Hi, sorry to revive this but I’m still hoping to get my transfer case noise down to an acceptable level , I have put another transfer box in and it’s a bit better but noticed how much the intermediate shaft thrust washers shims had worn in the 100 or so miles before the change over , I’m sure I read that “if the castle nut on the output shaft is not torqued correctly it can make a good gearbox noisy “ I wonder if I need to put more preload on the Ashcroft input gear ( the “PTO” cover they supply in the kit would need a skim to do this ) If any one has any ideas I’d love to hear them ? Or a really good series transfer case ? Thanks Angus

  6. The 5speed is still in place I only pulled the transfer case off and this one  was the donor for the replacement transfer box ,it seems to have been reconditioned and  it also yielded an overdrive with good splines and that’s destined for the “For Sale” pages as soon as I remember where I put the linkage , the replacement transfer box seems quieter too 😃

  7. I’m just taking it apart now, so far so good,  intermediate shaft thrust washers still had grease behind  them so hoping someone has been in here recently or it’s not been in the car long before it came out , this is the logo on the main box , not sure if that helps date it ?

  8. Hi , I’ve got a set of 5 ANR1534 rims with road tyres that I was told came from a rapier but I’m sure I read that Vass had loads of sets and sold them as snatch “ wheels from Northern Ireland vehicles ? Anyone know which they fitted or if they could be from either vehicle? Angus

  9. Hi , after years off the road I have finally got the “series “ back together, The transfer box was full of water so was rebuilt with EAC parts and a new genuine output shaft  and it’s associated gear ( blue box but old stock) along with a used intermediate gear as mine had rusted solid and turned the shaft in the casing , it’s got an Ashcroft 5 speed kit and input gear and it’s really noisy now ☹️, I’ve checked the intermediate gear play and it’s minimal , the preload on output shaft was set up as per green book ? The new intermediate shaft did not have any lateral movement in the casing , I’ve driven a defender for years since but sure it wasn’t as bad as this before, any ideas ? Angus

  10. I found out about the TD5 ones going the opposite  way when I turned the wipers on luckily I had pulled  the arms away front the new windscreen to stop them scratching it so no harm done , I’ve turned the TD5 boxes up the other way and have working wipers with limited sweep , I don’t want to spend loads on a new dash so I’m going to have a go at remodelling the TD5 ones to take old spindles , wishing I had broken the car instead of going to the expense and hassle of changing the bulkhead, I’m out of pocket big time now  ☹️
