Mike from “Brittanica restorations” has done YouTube videos of changing the o ring and I’m sure people on here have managed it in situ too ?

Pictures?

I have taken the plunge and got the newer plastic type ( series 111) steering wheel, The horn push button fitted ok and the indicator cancelling ring did too , I had to clear the holes for the screws and for the cable to pass through, I will keep the original one as a good spare

Hi , does anyone know if the series 11a and 111 steering wheels are the same? I realise that the 111 has a blank not a horn button and I’m not thinking of the earlier one with metal spokes , I have one of the old ones that “melt” when it is wet and have been offered a later plastic one that I would like to use, Thanks

I’m also very impressed, I would love to be able to things that myself

Stainless steel would be great 👍🏼

The thread is 1/8 npt

If anyone wants to start making ones like Simon made, I will be first in the queue, I gave an EGR blanking plate to an engineer friend but he just tapped it at 45 degrees and it looks awful 😢

200 / 300 TDi boost ring (dynamic timing advance)

Yep , still happy with it, just bought one of Vulcan Bomber’s ones for my other 200tdi powered Land Rovers -
Defender mods and travels did a good YouTube video about this, “Defender disc handbrake product review - a flawed design? How to make it work properly” also tells you how to get the (JCB) pads for under a tenner

Air Intake and pipe to turbo question
92a replied to Eauzone's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Steve Parker does a kit for this , it is expensive but worth a look at , if only to get some ideas 💡 for a neat solution? just Google SPCK224A, -
I was also surprised how hot the air gets once compressed by the turbo, boost is about 0.8 bar , the boost is nearer 20 psi on my 200tdi and the pipe to the intercooler gets up to 150 degrees on the same run but always has a lower maximum EGT ( standard pump reconditioned by CJ Diesels )

300tdi Defender 90 , I have a sensor tapped into the EGR blanking plate , that reading was after a 70mph run up the M25 slip road at J8 for Reigate, a long steady climb, I replaced the injection pump recently and it had been opened up by the previous owner ( on this forum too ) The other reading is the temperature in the pipe going to the intercooler

Rust and sludge inside rear axle - 1985 LR90
92a replied to bernie.g.suffolk's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Look for “Britannica restorations” on YouTube he’s just done exactly this in one of his videos? -
How about fitting an EGT sensor and a boost gauge ? only need to be temporary ones just to see, I just put the tube and wire through the vent flap on the passenger side
-
I’m sure that dumpers etc have an oil pressure switch that has another terminal so until the pressure is up they will not start , could you run the solenoid supply via one ?
-
Been thinking, the glow plugs don’t have a timer like 200 and 300 tdis they only come on when you turn the key a bit further from the second position but before it turns over

Sunny weekend? Time for more stupid V8 questions!

I’m sure your one will fit , and the lt77 knob will confuse any inexperienced thief as Reverse will be in the wrong place -

The one nearest the bellhousing gets the gear stick bolted to it and the other one is the diff lock / high low and just gets the knob straight on it -
The chassis is the original chassis(not the one in the picture) I am sure from the state of it it’s not had any welding ever as it’s very rusted , if I can get the v5 I’ll get a galvanised chassis and just keep the bit with the old VIN on it as proof of identity ,
-
-
Yes to the pedal box plate and the chassis leg is just rusty no sign of any grinding or welding and guy seems genuine , got a copy of the DVLA letter I posted and an invoice from him with his address , if necessary I will get send the vehicle back and get a refund, I will have a go at cleaning up the area just wondered if there was any better way than the wire brush to bring the number out
-
I don't know? I'm letting the seller deal with the DVLA, who have asked for this information, it has not been on the road since 2011, below is a copy of the DVLA letter , I've covered the bit with his name and the registration number out of courtesy, he sent all the pictures except the chassis VIN, hence my original post, I have never had any problems with the V62 process before maybe they are still "working from home" ?
-
“V5 available” in the listing, but it’s been a while since it arrived, I don’t think the seller is pulling a fast one as the VIN plate is there and looks like it’s not been interfered with, but if I can’t get the V5 I’ll send it back ,
