Change all the rotator caps too, as they can crack when the piston wallops the valve, and then fall into the sump later, a Tdi with about 100 thou valve clearances is a bit rattly
Anyone know the p/n for these on the 200tdi as mine also went last weekend on the way home from seven sisters.

Just a quick one.
What size are the pair of bolts that hold the aluminumum bracket onto the underside of the diff housing on a 110/90 front axle?
Thanks in advance.

I have a 1988 110 witha Disco 200tdi in it. When I did the engine swap I also replaced the bulkhead as it was shot. I used the bulkhead from a 200tdi Defender.
I decided to use the Defender master cylinder as it is twin circuit (3 ports - 1FR, 1FL, 1R) as apposed to the 110 (2 ports - 1F with a tee, 1 rear). I thought it would probably be a bit safer/more effective. The business ends of the brakes are still std 110 (discs front, drums rear). When I first did the job the pedal was soft and continued through its range of motion - went to the floor. Having bled the system several times I removed the compensator/valve jobbie from the RHS chassis rail and this firmed the pedal up a bit, and allowed it to pass the MOT. I assume that this is not an ideal setup as there is full braking effort on the rears and they lock up before the fronts. Also the pedal is still not as firm as I would like.
Any ideas? would an adjustable brake bias valve sort both problems?

suggs,
I've got some maxis on order in the 35/1250/15. How far do they hang out past the std arches vs the qt arches? do you have any photos from the front/rear?

Where exactly to you put the masking tape ???
We used to drive down to Naples in various haggard cars for a charity rally. After being ripped off for the propper headlight converters the first year (£4.5 IIRC!) we just bashed a lump or gaffer tape long ways on the LHS of the headlight lense about 2-3" long. The cars were painted with emulsion, knackered, bumping into each other and pulled over by the law on a regular basis and no-one ever got ticketed for having home made headlight converters.
Reversing up a sliproad off the autostrada into the front of an Italian police car however was a different matter

Reggie,
I work in the tyre trade and I couldn't beat the price of a set through silverline using any of my customers.
They seem very reasonable through them and the delivery was included and pretty quick.
Hope this helps.
