Josh999
Hi guys, I have a lovely knocking and clunking sound on my 200tdi 1993 90. Brand new props and UJ's, however there's lots of play in both... (diff or transfer?). When I pull away it will clunk, if I'm driving and come off the accelerator it will sound like a bag of nails. I think it will be easier and cheaper to buy a v8 disco, swap both axles (rear discs is a bonus) and I nice v8 to finish it off. Will a disco2 take much modification for the axles? Or shall I stick with a d1? Unless someone can spot what the hell is going on underneath? Don't think it's a Aframe joint. Thanks for reading, and any help at all is taken greatly!! landroversforever
D2 axles are totally different - wider and different bracketry. I think you're better off fixing the faults in what you've got. Reasonable diffs aren't expsnsive, same goes for the transferbox. Get under it and give it all a wiggle with a pry bar, you'll soon see what's not right.
