Kentmere to Mardale head

Any one have any advice on tackling the green lane from Kentmere to Mardale head in the Cumbrian mountains. Thinking of heading out but really low vis and wet conditions.

The northern half of the Gatescarth Pass, as it is more commonly known, is only open on a permit basis. You need to apply to the Lake District National Park and it is only open certain days of the year. It can also only be driven from the north to the south and there is a wheelbase limit of 100".

This relates to the section from Mardale Head to the old quarries at Brownhowe Bottom and there is a locked gate at each end (combination for which is given with the permit). The southern half from the quarries down to Sadgill is open as usual and can be driven any time however it is of course a dead end.
