Not a good day

1st today I'm cream crackered - squash last night then out with some of my oldest mates to a loud bar lots of beer - great and at about 12.30 ish - curry (next door to bar) was a good then idea then more beer - and what seemed like a good curry - 2 ish make my way home in torrential rain storm 10 minute walk = soaked ho hum

Up this morning at 8 ish - jobs to do - I'm not a great fan of xmas

Delly belly enough said

Anyway to the L/R content went to start it turn the key - nothing starter solenoid again after bashing/tapping evenually starts great me thinks

So starter motor I will have to take it off and clean out and oil - sounds easy its a disco 200TDi it my 90 last time I took it off I had a hell of a job but some long extension bars should sort this out then jack the engine so there is enough space to get it out - do I need to take it out? and oil

Next problem clunking in drive train (since trial at broxhead the other week) think its a uj its definetly in the rear axle area as when it clunks it vibrates through the rear axle to bodybork have'nt noticed any bad vibration during normal driving only the odd clunk or 2 (fairly violent if that makes sence) at lower speeds forward or reverse seems a little worse when turning - I did try to check the ujs the other day but where I had been deep wading the handbrake had stuck on so could'nt feel the propshaft will check this later I was going to check today read on - thinking though may be the rear diff gone or half shafts ?

Any ideas?

Finally I was parking it in my garage its fairly tight so had it on full lock to get it in suddenly the steering wheel just clicked in my hands = steering heavy yep power steering let go on my garage floor (reason for not checking ujs this afternoon as I had to meet swmbo for xmas shopping trip) Looks like one of the hoses has let go near the pump on a quick inspection

So can the hoses be easily replaced is it a simple case of getting some hose and new jubilee clips or is it better to replace the lot i have been moving them around to for instalation of my pto driven H14

Your thoughts would be appreacited

Still feel hungover

Happy xmas everybody

Cheers

Was it held together with jubilee clips before? If so, I'd be inclined to get the hose re-made with swaged ends anyway. Hose clips are no way strong enough for the pressures involved.

Depends if its the low pressure or high pressure side.

If the low pressure side has simply fallen off, then jubilee clips are fine. The high pressure side is *really* high pressure. I know a chap who cut his and had 3x jubilee clips on each side, and a bit of wire on to stop the ends seperating and it still p****d everywhere. So, no...jubilee clips are a no go...
