A bar and lights

Recommended Posts

Have never had A bar or additional lights so if stupid please enlighten kindly! My excuse is upcoming Highland tour and we may meet a silly deer.

Just got nice looking black A bar from Craddocks. It has three holes each side to bolt to bumper but there are currently only two bolts holding bumper on (and no spare holes). I can see the logic of three fixings to stop it swinging back into radiator if impact, but do I just drill additional holes into the bumper?

If so I presumably remove bumper and can then fix the third bolt/nut on whilst it is off? ( I did say my questions might be stupid  )

Also the lights are Britpart and would seem to be intended to fit sitting upright given the gaps/holes around the fixing bolt. On the A bar they will need to sit upside down. Should I try to tape over the holes or is there some mystery fix known to all LR owners except me?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated and thanks for patience.

Thanks

Malcy

You do not need to remove the bumper in order to drill the third holes, also there is sufficient space at the back to get your hand/socket in to hold the nuts.

Fitting the third bolt each side is definitely worth the effort, you will find you can flex the mounting base plates otherwise.

Rod :)

I had to drill a extra hole each side for a A bar. It pulled back too much and had a big gap under the front if i didnt put the 3rd bolt in.

Yes you can fit it without removing the bumper, but if you have a steering guard, you may have to remove that so you can get a nut on the bottom of the extra bolt, i did.
