pugwash
doesn't sound like a hoax; it should be perfectly feasible to change any hydrocarbon chain into another longer or shorter one. what a great idea to use microwave though- i remember the A-level chemistry trip to a refiner and the kit used to crack heavier chains was absolutely huge and seemed very very complex!
