landy virgin

hi y'all,

i have just bought my first landrover, its a discovery series 1 200tdi...

i lost my heating and took the car to a mechanic.

when i returned for a report on problem he informed me that the head or head gasket was kaput!

problem is, i live in bulgaria and there is a slight language problem [actually a huge language problem], and as i am still a newbie to the pleasures/pitfalls of owning a landrover, i dont own a manual and the 'landy' engine is still a mystery to me and hubbs.

the oil appears to be ok but water sprayed all over engine!!

help :(

irene

The Tdi engines are pretty basic and should contain no surprises for any competent mechanic even if he/she doesn't speak da lingo.

There are a number of online bookshops selling workshop manuals I think, though check as a lot of them only start from 300Tdi vehicles. I don't have a 200 manual handy but somebody will probably come along shortly who does :)

Just a thought, have you checked to see if one of the hoses have split, it`s happened to me a couple of times it might save you some money.

Foxminer.

hi foxminer

i've had it sorted now, it was the cylinder head.... someone had done a botch job on the last repair and it wasn't put back together properly!

all running good now.

thankyou anyway.
