V8 Freak
I'm writing on behalf of a friend.. (Why do all problems start that way ?) He's just bought a 110 Ex. MOD (200TDi) Chassis looks in good order, very minor rust at the top of the footwell box on the passenger side... Has dual batteries and charging setup. This little box located behind the passenger seat. Batteries not holding their charge, but appear to be charging normally when the engine running. I'm not familiar with this setup and can't understand why there is a small 10 circut breaker across two of the terminals. When it's broken, the interior loght is dim, when circuit closed, it's normal (Nearly bright..) Not had the opportunity to trace where all these wires go yet either so it's a real unknown.... Any suggestions ? One more thing... It's been lifted, but the previous owner didn't fit corection arms on the front. If it's a 2 inch lift (What it looks like) does he need 3 degrees correction ? (Looks like it also needs extended brake pipes, and longer dampers...) Thanks in advance Neil....
LandyManLuke
The red/black lump is a set of splitting diodes. they'll be taking 0.7v off each battery, which will do them no good at all. I'd remove it and fit a VSR or switched relay (like x-eng's relay).
Tris Cocks
It might also be worth checking that the distilled water in the batteries is ok. I have had the problem with the batteries not holding their charge, topped up the distilled water and they were fine.
Mr Bean
I would dump that set-up and look else-where for parts. If some mods have not been completed correctly i would take it that ALL are not done correctly. Why chance it?
