Trinidefender
Hello everyone. Glad to be here. I own a double cab, 110 defender 2000 model with the 300TDI. recently i find that the front wheel were driving only (they were the only ones spinning when I was stuck in mud.) Then the mechanic jacked it up and only the back wheel spun... When the central diff lock was engaged all the wheels spun. Is there a transfer case problem? paintman
Without difflock engaged if one wheel can spin then all power will go to that wheel. Difflock gives equal drive to both front and rear axle diffs. BUT if one wheel on EACH axle can spin then you will still be stuck as the axle diffs will allow all power to go to those wheels. Usual test is to jack up ONE wheel, engage difflock then try & turn the wheel by hand. If it does then you have a problem. If it doesn't then you don't.
