draper40
Hey, I have just been outside and tried to turn over my 90 200TDi but after pre-heating it just emmited a high-pitched whine and would not start. Does anyone know why? Thanks Peter
Darren
Starter motor not engaging. The whine is the motor running with no load. Try giving it a tap with a hammer as this sometimes frees them up.
Scotian
Wot he said.. I got it alot with my 2.5 petrol a while back. After a few trys the motor engaged and it started. In the long run you need to check the teeth on the starter motor and if they are ok check the teeth on the fly wheel. Sometimes the fly wheel can stop in the same place alot and the patch where its always getting started can be worn, but unlikley.
